Truetrac part #'s

Postby ashy on Sun, 14 Sep 2008 4:15 +0000

Wish to buy a Detroit Truetrac diff lock from the states for a 2006 lux, is it a 8" diff ?, is it the same as a Tecoma ?, I just need a part no. for the rear diff. Was going to fit an ARB locker but to stories of the oil blowing back up the line have got me shying away.

Probably the best bloke to ask here is Doug67 about the detriot. I asked him a bout 6months ago about the Detroit and he said it required some additional bearing and some slight mods to fit it into the housing. And the cost was around the $1500 mark from memory.
There is a bit of a myth that the ARB locker blowing oil up the line.. Mine hasnt done it yet . They have lowered the pressure switch on there compressors to only allow the compressor to pressurise to 60psi. I havent had mine blow oil yet and mine does get used a fair bit......

There's plenty on the US eBay site for around $380 US, had a quote from http://www.performanceoffroadcenter.com postage $109 US. about $620 Aussie all up. The problem 3 suppliers gave me 3 differant part #'s. Emailed Harrop Engineering for a # but no reply. A dealer in Qld. has them for $880 Aud.

If you can give me a few days I'll have a look for the part number. No mods required they just gave me a part number for a couple of carrier bearings that needed to be bought, also bought a crush tube and oil seals from Toyota.
