Bull bar and flares.

Postby pilko4x4 on Sat, 02 Jun 2012 11:29 +0000

Hope some one can point me in the right direction. Ive searched but have not came up with an answer. Im about to get a new sr d/c . Im wanting a deluxe arb bar and ill be putting flares on it down the track. Now my question is, Does the deluxe bar come in the one width and does it then match up ok when ill put the flares on it. Ill be using the ute mart flares when i do it. Also ive been told that ill have to buy fog lights as an extra from toyota to fit the bar. Is this correct? Thanks

The ARB deluxe bar comes in two different widths to suit both the SR and the SR5. As for foglights, I'm not sure if they're optional in the wider bar I'd imagine that the holes would be there for them seeing as they suit the SR5 vehicles.
I got my ARB bar to suit the SR as it was there and really cheap as the supplier had it lying around from a previous order, I also didn't know at that time that I"d be buying utemart flares so it looks a bit funny with the wider flares.
So in short, buy the bar that suits the flares.

X2 I got the ARB deluxe and had flares fitted at same time. Bought the fog lights 2nd hand off ebay. Guys sell the bumper and lights on there so I just bought that and through the bumper away

You won't need flares straight away, it won't look too bad. Mine looks a bit poxy because I have the aftermarket flares that stick out past the SR bullbar. For the cost of a new bar I"ll put up with it........ unless someone's willing to reverse into it for me ;)

G'day Pilko4x4,
I've just bought a SR Dual Cab also and bought the ARB SR5 deluxe bar. If you are going to fit flairs you'll need the SR5 bar to go onto your ute like the guys said. I'm going to order a set of utemart flairs for the front only and plain on fitting 32" tyres. Trying to set it up as a touring vechicle like yourself, just don't know what suspention lift or brand to fit yet.
Cheers Boatie.

You do not need the SR5 bar.

We have a 6/2011 SR, and specifed with ARB that we were going to fit flares and that we didn't want fog lights, they will do them in any combination

Think the blokes confused now!

You order either the flared bar or non flared bar + fog lights or no fog lights and any combination of the two :D

Rito im well and truly confused. Nah thanks guys, been a great help. Thats why this forum is a winner. Always good advise with first hand experience. Unlike some of the 4x4 store workers who are reading out of the book and still get it wrong.

I fitted the SR5 Arb delux bullbar to my 08 SR since I intend to fit flairs at a later stage, they are slightly different but does'nt look out of place without flairs fitted. Fog light, winch are also options as well as colour coding. I also fitted the Arb srub bars to suit the bullbar, looks sweet.

I got the arb bar fitted by the dealer. Happy enough with it but i think they have mounted it a bit low. I have 30 mm gap between the bar and the guard. Ill put some pics up when i get a chance. For those that have fitted them can this be lifted up now or once mounted and drilled am i stuck with the height. thanks

You'll be able to loosen the bar and tweak it to make it sit right. Gee 30mm is a bit ordinary!
I have to do mine as it's dropped a bit, but I've just scored a winch so i'll sort it out when I mount that.

Agreed - that is quite a gap. If i remember the instructions say 20mm but i rekon even that looks crap. I did mine around 15mm and think it looks about right. Theres some bolts you can loosen the use a high light jack or ratchet strap to bring her back up again...

Arb recommend 20mm a least know as they have had some cracked head lights with the vibration. I would leave the gap lights are way too expensive
