So I got a reasonable deal back in May. Dealer says 16weeks for delivery ie 4 mths. Which makes it sept'ish.
called him yesterday to get a status update, he is not in, but calls me back today with "good news", mine didn't get pushed to november build like 90 others did, looks like its still set for Oct build ....What the? Anyone else still getting the run around re supply? I paid a $2K deposit, but thinking I might try & get out of the deal & buy elsewhare or even something else as I sold my old MY09 and have to use wifes car while I wait, which is a pain.

FWIW there is no date specified in the contract (ok Stupid me!)...but I'm not sure what a "reasonable time" would be if the dealer decided to fight it & we went the legal path. I mean the floods have gone in Thailand, and the paper reported they had cleared the "backlog", so how long are dealers quoting today?
The sales "contract" has no VIN specified, so is it binding anyhow? or do I just have to wait?

Quite a few in NSW, and seems any colour you want can be delivered in mid/late August.

For those shopping, Private Fleet nabbed me a sr5 4wd dual cab, mats and a full tank of gas for $49,900. Delivered to my door. Best I could do on my own was $50,900 haggling with bill buckle in Sydney.

I did a bit better (not much) than that. But no where near what I got my MY09 for which had higher RRP (it went up with the MY09) than the MY12 RRP.
But I think the prob is the slim margin means the dealer doesn't want to freight one from interstate.
As just mentioned by OP, when I look at carsales, there seems to be stock in Australia, why am I waiting.....because I signed an order!. But what to do about it?

I purchased a 2011 SR5 dual cab turbo diesel auto the update with stability etc. in april 2011 with tinted windows, rubber matts and air con for $52K. Unfortunatley after 12 months of busting by hump and adding mods for the 12 month trip an X5 launched itself in front of me and wrote it off. I just purchased the 2012 model on friday 27/07/2012 for $50K. I looked and drove Ranger, BT 50, Amarok, Triton, and Navara where is this huge price difference everyone goes on about? little things like low slung rear shock mounts on the ranger amoung other things are not good for 4WDing. great car for the average tradie.

I just cancelled my order (may 2012) after waiting 12 wks only to hear it will be another 12 wks or more (dec/jan delivery.)

I'm looking for an SR5 D/C TD manual in Tidal Blue.
Has anyone spotted one sitting in a dealership yard? Many don't get advertised as the dealer just holds the stock, so I am looking for a dealership name so I can email them for a quote.

Thx in advance.

I would like to hear more on this salary sacrificing?

Can you mod the cars (bullbars, etc)?
Do you have to be on a salary to salary sacrifice?

I much prefer the 05-08 model look though, but wouldn't pass up a brand new car if it could save me money!

Cheers,

Aaron

Hey mate,

Jump on carsales and submit a few enquiries on some of the sr5's dc on there. Even if they aren't the color you want, mention in the enquiry that you are after a blue one. I was after a charcoal sr5 and did the same thing. At least that way they can check their stock and call you if they have one.

Cheers,
Mick

Yes. You can salary sacrifice accessories as long as it's on the original tax invoice. I got my ARB Sahara bullbar, rear step and tow bard, canopy and snorkel on my lease package. But you have to see if it's worth while. You should be able to buy the kit cheaper than from the dealer. But the tax savings might mean it's worth while to get it as part of the lease.

Thanks Mick
I had already set up an alert email from carsales for the colour I wanted. Finally got an email alert this am, spent the day haggling via email & closed the deal by end of day. Now have to finally decide on all those extra Monster style goodies I "need" (or is that want?) :-)

went into toyota today seen a new d/cab d4d SR with a VSC extra onit and aircon The VSC extras kit is cool.

This one is for sale on the yard and ready to drive away, I go in and ask how much for that new hilux, an hour later there is still no firm price, I say mate its sitting on the yard how much for it as it sits there, hour and a half later he has a print out and says between 45k and 50k.

Do you want finance and do you want this and that, 2 hours I get up and say out loud, I have cash and want a price to drive it away. well then he just lost his sale.

Why cant they just put a price on the door.
