which d4d Chip

Postby doyta on Tue, 08 Mar 2011 8:28 +0000

Hello people i was thinking of buying a chip for my 2010 Hilux and was wanting advice for the best chip to put in my truck,

STEINBAUER or VMN chip or is there something else on the market.
I have read through all of the threads on these chips but no ones really said whats the best to install.

Any help would be great.
Thanks

There is also the Chip It chip; they are also a forum sponsor.

Mate is comes down to personal choice and $$$ in your pocket.

Steinbauer is the most expensive of all and fully tuneable if you want to spend the money and time on the dyno.

VMN has 4 settings and is the chip I run, cannot complain very good and noticeable increase in power and torque.

Geez, guys thanks for the good wrap. The VMN chip is on special at the moment and the details are in this thread which we are picking up at page 14.
viewtopic.php?f=62&t=4763&start=260

I don't want to buy into the discussion here and I always like my clients to make up their own mind about what chip to buy and whether they want to take the VMN chip on board. The article on lcool is a good read and the link is on the other thread. Many have found it useful.

I think it is hard for people to say one is better over the other because they are a fair investment so most people only get to try one chip.

I have had a tremendous response to the special offer and it was interesting to see one sale this week go to replace another brand of chip mentioned in this thread.

Just fitted my VMN chip today, I only ordered it on Monday Avo and it was here Wed. morning, That's service.
Haven't driven too far but can definitely feel the difference. Like lots of others I have been watching the threads on various chips. VMN chip very easy to fit, Going away this weekend ( not 4WDdriving ) but towing a trailer, Should be alot better trip this time

Have u heard of unichip?? Gained extra power and increased fuel efficiency. 5 different settings to choose from including a custom map and an economic map.

approx 50hp for the 3.0L...And the drive is FUN!

Well I can only go off how my lux drives now with this module, I haven't used nor drove a lux fitted with steinbauer.
But the good thing I find about the chip it is that it's tuneable to what other mods you got, if I get an aftermarket exhaust I can up the tune myself at home and got more power in couple of minutes, also having the egt monitor and now the MAP monitor, I don't see why alot more people aren't haven't a think or considering this option!
Not to mention the increase in power!!

Yes alot of people are using the steinbauers and are loving them but I think the chip it is equally if not better. Also chip it being a forum sponsor and a all Australia company, rob can give you a awesome price!

Anyway sorry for taking away from your thread a little dude!....

Well, I had my heart/wallet set on the Steinbauer, but I think I shall look more closely at the Chip It module. I certainly like the idea of the EGT being monitored and the tune adjusted accordingly.

We weren't going to argue Maddog, just quick compare. Look I am sure the steinbauer wi do the job and you won't regret it, but just thought I just throw my opinion out there.
Also the chip it has 6 different tunes, all which can be do on your home computer....

Anyway that's enough from me...

stienbeauer are more reputable in my opinion...not that chip it arent...just steinbeauer are bigger and more "proven" i spose...i do like the 'tune at home' idea with chip it...could be potentially fatal tho i spose
