This thread has been great, I am very interested in scrapping my cheap extractors and 2.5 inch drone system and replacing it with your setup mate.
Awesome - honestly you wont regret it but it wont be easy. The hardest thing will be finding a good Trades person.
Im still enjoying the sound and extra power but to achieve it unfortunately you will have to copy exactly what I have done including the Borla Mufflers, Burns Stainless "Y" pipe and 304 Stainless Steel exhaust pipework. The most important of all is equal length pipe or "Tuned Length" pipes from the headers to the "Y" pipe.
Dont get conned to use anything in 400 series as its not true Stainless Steel in my book. It will still rust and worst of all it does not like heat changes and will work harden and crack. It does cost more 304 and above but its the best. If you cannot afford it you would be better off using good quality aluminized dedicated exhaust pipe than rubbish 400.
Tacoma PartsI used brand new Tacoma Headers and these are expensive but they are highly engineered and they come with a high flow cat so the cost is acceptable ---- you can however get them very cheap 2rd hand from wreckers in the states and I will show you how to find them below.
New Tacoma partsI have used both Dallas Toyota and Sparks Toyota in South Carolina and both have been great.
http://www.toyotaofdallasparts.com/Scripts/default.asphttp://www.sparkstoyota.com/You will have to email them with all the part numbers I have provided. Ensure they only ship one manifold at a time with some parts in one box excreta so you keep both sales under $1,000 --- otherwise the Australian Gov will put their hand in both your pockets
Sparks will be slightly cheaper on purchase price but Dallas Toyota the freight will be cheaper as there are direct freight flights every day of the week to Australia.
Other option is to go to Hawaii for a holiday (flights are so cheap) and pre-order your parts and bring them back but parts there can be more expensive but you save on the freight. Just ensure you go with someone so you can split the tax invoices so you dont get hammered back in Australia for Tax and also so one manifold can go into one suitcase each. Ensure you get your tax back at Hawaii airport before you depart so you effectively buy your Tacoma parts duty free
You could use a specialist in "Over Stocked parts" like this one
http://www.overstockoemparts.com/oe-toyota/171400p140but Im not sure how reliable they are. This is now a discontinued item and Toyota would be looking to reduce inventory. But dont panic the dealerships have to keep parts available for 10 years in the states.
FYI - I paid about $600 each for the new header. I actually think this is good value considering this is a highly engineered part that is very very difficult to make. Plus it also comes with High Flow cats. Tacoma Headers 2rd HandStraight up there is a risk - are they bent from an accident or is the Cat melted or blocked. I think if your cautious and get photos etc you should be fine, Plus I have found them online for only $155 US each on ebay so you could go that way and use a reliable ebayer with a good track record.
I would however not under any circumstances use 2rd hand O2 or A/F sensors.
How to find them ----- well welcome to the new way to Google stuff. The new generation is all about images so lets join them. Simply copy and past the Tacoma manifold part numbers individually with word the Toyota in front and do an image search.
I found this in seconds for you
