Hi all,
had recently installed an ARB turbo timer, this is the second hilux i've had with a turbo timer, first one, on my 05 hilux, was a no-name brand and work perfectly. (was also 1/3 the $ of the ARB one). Now the problem i have with the ARB one is you cant lock the doors with the remote until the engine shuts down......kind of defeats the point of having one if you have to hang around and wait for it to stop idleing. Was installed at my local ARB dealer and when i rang him to see if he had wired it up wrong or if it was faulty, he said "yeah i know and the D40 Navara does the same, were looking for a fix....". Have others had this problem wiyh the ARB unit?

i have a bogart unit the same as arbs and yet the remote locking dosnt work while it times out, I just ust the key in the door to look all the doors. the only way around it is to fit an alarm system like viper then it will be able to use the romote pain in the but right.

so no its not wired in wrong the hiluxes wont remote lock while the engin is still running

brusa, I've got the ARB turbo timer and put up with the same inconvenience, but I'm used to it now. You can always hit the stop button if you're in a hurry, but I find I can usually hang around for the minimum 30 seconds and it gives you a chance to wind up the windows after you've already turned off and taken the keys out. Only set mine to the max 5 minutes after long highway driving.

In NSW it is a defect if your motor can run with the key removed, & technically fitting a turbo timer is a no-no. By having to wait until the timer cuts the engine to lock it is a small step to try to legalize it's fittment I suppose. I had an '85 Pajero that you could take the key out of when in the on position(handy to unlock the tailgate without shutting down), & had to get the ignition tweaked by a locksmith to get through rego when it was found. Have never heard of anyone being done with a t/timer though.

yeah all the turbo timers on the lux's work the same, dosent matter about brand its to do with the imobiliser it wont let the doors lock via the remote untill the engine has shut down.

there is 2 ways around it;
1. close the door and lock it with the key from the outside.
2. press the door lock on the inside and hold the door handle out when closing the door from the outside.

Does anyone know if this locking issue has been resolved, I''m looking at getting some work done on my car before Xmas and a turbo timer is POSSIBLY on my list (still not 100% sure yet)

A little bit off topic, but Is a Turbo timer really any benefit?

Why a turbo timer , there not needed .

Just roll it home as much as you can, then you dont have to wait as long.

I have a massive hill before my house and i can roll for a full 1min30 , then i cool it down for 1 more
poor mans timer.
