2010 Reversing Camera screen

Postby hiluxal on Sun, 28 Feb 2010 4:03 +0000

I have done a search but have not been able to clarify my query.

What are the options for reversing camera's on the 2010 model SR5 ?

I have just taken delivery of my 2010 sr5. My dealer hooked up a reversing camera directly to the 4.3inch screen in the new standard stereoface. As soon as i put my ute in reverse it cuts in on the screen and gives a good view out the back. they mounted the camera just above the rear number plate, tucked away where it cant really be damaged.

Hi there i have just fitted a reverse camera to my 2010 hilux with the tns510 navigation / head unit, if you have the type the camera you are after is listed for the iq which we is a piss take as the car is only 2 feet long !!! Part number PZ422-00140-00 . if you go to techdoc (google it) for toyota go to "owner" then accessory int manuals, click search aim, click vehicle select iq, go through the other steps on the last click rear view camera.

Its easy to install and the cable that it comes with is about 8ft too long !?!?!?! mountained mine above the reg plate under the step.
I was Trying to buy a new invincible but dealers are useless, but i found a good one and now have 5-6 weeks to wait as from 04-01-10

What are the options for reversing camera's on the 2010 model SR5 ?

The salesman told me one thing and the accessories person does not seem to know.

I know that one option is an eletctro-chromatic mirror (so the image is displayed on the mirror). I have seen this and can live with it.

Is there an option to view the image through the screen associated with the stereo ?? This is what the salesman said but now the accessories person does not seem to know what this is all about.

The simple question - For you people with new SR5's fitted with reversing camera's by the dealer - where do you see the image ??

I don't want another screen installed elsewhere.

Thanks in advance.

Good question. I would like to know of any aftermarket (ie: Better value for money) suppliers for a camera and if anyone has fitted one DIY.

I was told that the head unit did not need to be removed as wiring for a future factory camera is already in place, I have not yet been able to confirm if this is true or not........ Toyota service and spare parts divisions have absolutley no idea.

Clintons Toyota Narellan is at the end of our street from where I work, so I will go an check it out and report back. :geek:

OK.. Just got back from Clintons Toyota Narellan. The genuine Toyo camera costs $330.35 and a further $28.45 for the harness. The "Parts Interpreter" informed me that he didn't know if it simply plugged in somewhere along the chassis or if it had to be put into the head unit on the dash. I guess I will find out in a week or two when I get one...stay tuned ....

I'm pretty sure i read in a thread a few months back that one of the updates for the 2010 model was to have reversing camera prewired and you just had to find the wire in the back somewhere.

maybe try searching for the thread on 2010 upgrades?

Hi Hoges,

I bought the Toyota Reversing Camera and had it fitted prior to delivery. Most of the wiring is already there apparently for "plug n play" if you decide to DIY. Enjoy your new "Lux. I got mine on Fri afternoon and haven't stopped smiling :D

BTW, the camera works very well..adequate vision.

It cost $358.80 for the Camera and the wiring harness. It was fitted prior to me picking up the vehicle so I am sure I have paid for fitting somewhere :? ...When you put the ute into reverse, you can see the the top of the towball and the rear bumper clearly on the screen. It will make hooking up my trailer a breeze ! :) I think it was well worth the bucks.

hey guys,

New to the site so jus roamin throught the threads,so i will put my 2cents in this thread. I picked up my lux early on the yr and geezz these cars are to judge when your reversing! I knew this guy who did alarms/stero's and now works for lexus so i got him to put in a lexus camera wired up to the headset for the 09/10 model lux. I must say it looks great on the screen and sure beats guessing how close you can get with your towbar to other cars. It costed me abit under $400 installed and he did a very nice job as i was watchin him all that time. If anyone that lives in south west syd and like his contact jus pm and i pass over his number.

can someone send me a pic of the genuine toyota camera. i have the 09/10 head unit and I'm tossing up the idea of buying it or an aftermarket camera.
also does the toyota camera use a standard av input into the headunit?

cheers

Toyota quoted me $800 to supply and fit to my 2010 hilux. The toyota camera brand is eclipse Fujitsu ten ( google this for your local agent) . I'm getting mine from Strathfield sound . They also now have the wiring kit forthe head unit. Car and Caravan camera fitted for almost same price as Toyota

I assume u mean a wiring kit to connect the camera to the head unit ?
do I need a wiring kit for just the camera?

I just got my 2010 SR5 last week, I also contacted my dealer who had no idea that you could even hook up a camera to the LCD display. I contacted Strathfield and they can do it for around $400 fitted (negotiated down from $450). I also found a mob called SA Mobile and they apparently do the cameras for Sydney City Toyota and Peter Warren, they will come out to you and install on-site (if your in sydney)...you get the option of two different cameras depending on the quality your after $330 or $430 fully installed http://www.samobile.com.au/rcoem.html Im going to use these guys as it looks like this is what they specialise in! I will let you guys know how it turns out.
