Rear speaker wiring in SR???

Postby Mal.W on Wed, 15 Jul 2009 5:15 +0000

I have't pulled the door trims off yet so I thought I would ask the question
Does an SR have rear speaker wiring? If so is it connected to the standard Toyota stereo?
So is it just a matter of installing speakers and presto suround sound?

thanks

Right on the money my friend
unless Toyota have tightened their belts mine is 11/06 and wiring was in place already connected to stereo
all you have to do is cut wires and put your own connector to fit speaker

I got a set out of the front of my SR here. send me a PM if you want them. Apparently they will just fit straight in. You just need to pop rivet them in... If you play with the head unit you will see the Head unit knows how to fade front to rear...

Just make sure you buy a speaker with the right wattage designed to be driven by a headunit not an amp. Maybe around 40 watts would be good but I am no expert...

The plug I pulled was the steering wheel controls. I have only 3 plugs on the back, one has power, illumination and from speakers, the other is steering wheel controls and the 3rd is the antenna ... There is two sockets in the middle that have nothing plugged in them. I'm guessing the rear speakers must be in there

Maybe like what this fella said - head unit driven speaker, not amp driven...but how do you tell?? What wattage is best?? IDFK!!

I wanna do this too - I was thinking to move the OEM speakers to the rear and put some new ones in the front...for 2012 SR

will these work?

Sorry, hope I'm not hijacking your thread.... :)

in my pic above, plug in bottom of pic is for power, lights and front speaker wires. Tested all these. Next plug up is for steering wheels controls, volume, skip track and mode, then top pug is antenna... No rear speakers connected to the head unit. So I"m up shit creek with the head unit. I wanted to put a line converter in to run to my 4 channel amp... Ive got 2 focal 8 inch subs which need to hijack their signal from the rear speakers.. amp runs the door speakers and the focals have built in amps... WTF do I do now! LOL
