Which lightbar to buy?

Looking to quit my HIDs as they are a pain to use when instant light is needed and i just don't drive too fast any more anyway. I fitted a lightbar to my sons Getz last week and I am impressed. He had bought it from some crew called Kulkyne and while their service was a bit slow he was happy but when I look on Ebay I see all sorts of bars at all sorts of prices . Some appear identical to my lads for less than half of what he paid... What is the go with these things? Are those that seem the same with Cree leds as good, the same or better?

Whichto buy?
Who to buy from?
How much to pay?

HELP!!

What to buy?
Something that suits your application, spot/flood hybrid seems to be good all rounder.
Look for things like waterproof ratings, power output versus power usage, feedback from people who have used said product, dimensions of unit to ensure it sits flush where you plan to mount it, even things like cable length and durability.

Who to buy from?
Some where warranty can be claimed easily should you find any issues with the unit would be a key point here so perhaps a local 4x4 store although this will see the prices somewhat higher then ebay, hard to narrow down things like light bars on ebay as so many coming out of China while some perform as good as the big names and some are subpar. Good research will see you on the right track.

What to pay?
Hard to say when it comes to ebay, it isn't always a case of 'you get what you pay for' now days due to the flood in imitations available on the market.
I went with Rigid Industries myself for warranty sake and piece of mind. Can't say I'm the slightest bit disappointed.

While my answer may be vague it should be a guideline on what to look for as opposed to the cheapest price you can find.

I got rigid industries and its power efficient and expensive, works well and appears very nice and no complaints so far however I have seen others such as tigerz11 work and for the value they are fantastic bang for buck.

I brought a jaycar light bar. wonderful.
don't know how it compares to similar devices though.
it comes with a loom/relay though no direct hook into the high-beams for roadworthyness.

Ive just bought a heap of led lights off NTech LED, they are a forum sponsor. Havent had time to install them yet but i dummy wired them up and i must say they are very impressive! The 40" single row is unbeleivable. It puts my Hid spotties to shame!
Lil bit pricey compared to ebay jobbies but you really appreciate the quality and light output they put out. Ive bought a few lights off ebay for cheap but they all failed to survive what i put them through.
These new ntech lights are backed up by warranty and William is great to deal with.
Cant wait to fit em up!

I'd agree with TurtleHilux aswell. I've bought gear off William at N - Tech Pro. Quality is very good and warranty is a huge thing these days. I've bought some flush mount led pods for my tub and soon to get a 40inch bar too.

I've tried a few.
Best IMO are the single row with 10w LEDs.
I got a 28.5" for $260
I tried a great white and honestly it had nothing on this one.

Yeh I'd be careful with ebay stuff, although leds are pretty fool proof. Alot of people won't see the difference between ebay/good brands, but there is a difference. The type of optics they use, as other guys said. Power in v power out, type of LED ( everyone rekons they use cree, a lot are fakes ) and water protection.

I use and will be offering to sell a brand called Tida through my retrofit business. Aussie brand, warranty, good quality housings. Check em out, they do anything from the 18w reverse lights to the 50" curved monsters

I went with a cheap ebay one. 20" 120W, 12x10W bulbs for around $150. I thought for the money I might as well give it a go. It does the job well for what I do (no harsh 4WDing and water crossings). You do end up wanting a bit more distance on the long stretches, but I can live with that. The roos jump out at <50m anyway

One thing I would say is if you're leaning towards paying big $$, go for a tried and tested brand. I walked into BCF the other day and saw my ebay lightbar on sale for $250 under the brand name "Mongoose". Same box, wiring loom and everything.

KC Works on Facebook

i bought a 26.5 inch single row (240W) bar.

Turns night into day. Survived a 70km head on with a tree (ended up 50m down the road on the opposite side). replaced the plug and its running like new again.

Super Helpful, quick delivery and handles returns.
