Ok back to my box..

Makes you wonder how toyota actually test these vechiles and what goes into the test aye? :? :?

Was talking to a guy last night about his 2012 GXL Cruiser. V8 Turbo Diesel, 2" Suspension lift, wider tyres, 3" Beauy Exhaust. Dual cab with steel canopy all set up for camping, all in the silver. Bar and winch etc etc etc. All the fruit, nice rig. Just came back from The Cape, said it went awesome. The GXL comes standard with electronic front and rear lockers.

He did have a few complaints though! He said back home around town it is a pain to drive. Being dual cab, the wheel base is soooo long it turns like the Queen Mary.
Also when he installed the 3" Exhaust and then fatter tyres, under compression the rear would hit on the exhaust badly. Tried many different things before he decided to bite the bullet and run wheel spacers. Illegal yes, but fixed the rubbing issue and also brought the rear wheel track in line with the fronts which made it much nicer to drive on road and on the beach. Went all the way to the cape and back with no issues with the wheel spacers.
When he installed the rear HD Suspension lift he found the large eyes for the shocks actually hung down BELOW the axle so the first trip off road, pushing it, actually grabbed both shock eyes and peeled them off over the bush and retainer and popped of completely! Not fun!
He also found the standard rear drive-shaft a little light on as he had it off-road, belly out on a rock and bent it! Now upgraded to a HD rear driveshaft.

Nice rig though. They look great all decked out and set up. Super capable Tourer.

The turning circle is the same on the single and dual cabs, yes it is bigger than the Hilux and teh Hilux is a more domesticated city driver but I don't find it a dealbreaker, getting in to shopping centre carspaces it where you really notice it

EDIT Just found it FM100 fuel alarm system

There seems to be some issues with flow rates through the filter. Id imagine if its a factory filter it would be the right micron

There were some guys who ran 10mm instead of 12mm hose plus 5 micron filters and were getting fuel starvation under load

I went with the recommended 30 micron pre filter, the extra filtration is a bonus IMO the main thing I wanted is an alarm that tells me I have crook fuel before it gets to my injectors

why did you opt for the fm100 over factory?

The fm100 probably has a higher flow rate than the factory filter. Its around 300l/hour I think. I've got one in my hilux with the 30 micron filter and have no probs.

Cheers,

Chris.

If you talk to diesel care in tamworth they actually reccomend you run a fm100 with a 5 micron filter after the factory filter. This is what they have been installing on the vdjs. I just opted for the 30micron before the factory. Hopefully here next week before i head away. Was $138 just for the unit with a 30micron filter and the glass bowl. I can get the fittings and 1/2" hose from work. I would have thought toyota installed a filter that was sufficeint engough for their injectors (factory is 10-8micron)
