I was thinking about putting in a small switch on the drivers side of the dash that I could use to switch the camera on at any time and then back to normal mode of coming on when reversing. Has anyone done this and how easy is it ??

Andrew

Just remember to put a diode in line at the switch so when you switch over to the camera mode your reverse lights don't come on!

Hi,
Im trying to install an ebay camera in the new 2012 hilux, can someone tell me which connector does the camera video signal get plugged into on the radio? I've tested the top left connector (as mentioned in an earlier post) & the other smaller grey 4way connector with no success.

Hi,
I am also having trouble getting an Ebay camera (NTSC) working on my brand new Hilux. It is fitted with head unit PZQ60-00531. The PZQ60-00150 harness was already installed and I have connected the green wire to the reversing light wire. This part is working correctly as the unit reports that reverse is on when I select reverse gear. However, I have been unable to identify the correct connection for the camera signal. I have not been able to find any pins that go to 6V when reverse is selected which would have at least identified the correct connector. Like tuf-lux, I have tried connecting the video signal to each of the pins in the top left connector but no joy. I have included a pic of the rear of the unit.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Greg

Not sure if the 'which camera?' was to me or aaronpricey. My camera is http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/160695217150?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3199wt_1139 and it works ok with a tv monitor.

thats a 12V camera, the toyota original is 6 volt (unless it's changed from 2010)

I am aware of that - I am powering it from 12V and have proved that it works using a tv monitor.

One question guys,
When you engage reverse and the rear camera comes on, do you get any lines on the screen as a indicator of the distance so that you can gauge how far you are from the object.

Hope that sounds clear.
Brain fart now ......

not with the original toyo camera Brendan

i have no idea if there's an aftermarket cam with a sensor built in

it's no problem, you very quickly learn the distance just by looking at the screen how close the object is by how much of the screen it fills up & how much 'ground' you can see between the object & the cam
