The standard location of the camera makes it useless at night time due to the number plate lights. I was thinking that we could rig something up so when reverse is engaged the number plate lights turn off and then turn back on. Anyone have an idea how to do this?

You could rig a "reverse relay" up so when the reverse lights come on the number plate lights get turned off. Be easier to move the camera or shield the number plate lights though I think.

gahpee wrote:Hi,
I am also having trouble getting an Ebay camera (NTSC) working on my brand new Hilux. It is fitted with head unit PZQ60-00531. The PZQ60-00150 harness was already installed and I have connected the green wire to the reversing light wire. This part is working correctly as the unit reports that reverse is on when I select reverse gear. However, I have been unable to identify the correct connection for the camera signal. I have not been able to find any pins that go to 6V when reverse is selected which would have at least identified the correct connector. Like tuf-lux, I have tried connecting the video signal to each of the pins in the top left connector but no joy. I have included a pic of the rear of the unit.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It does not go into a spare port in the head unit. There is a spare plug in the new harness that plugs into the genuine camera. If you are using non genuine camera follow the instructions in the other post by cutting two wires off this plug - join the camera wires
