$175 for the fitting kit. Ouch.
Almost tempting though considering how good it looks, and the fact that mines just jammed in the corner, not held in by anything and a pain in the ass to drain.

Singlespeed, This is a photograph of a 150 install, but it will give you the idea.

Image

15.9mm brass straight barb is needed.
For the hose, I use Gates 15.9mm emission hose R7.
In Brisbane, you can buy all this stuff from Pirtek at Springwood.
The hose that comes out of the cylinder head cover goes into the inlet of the MH Provent 200, the top, and the bottom section, the outlet, goes to the elbow and back down to the turbo.
On earlier models, this hose just plugs into the turbo intake hose with a hose clamp.

On another note.
I fit the catch can to the inner side guard with two nutserts. This is on the drivers side.
You can just fit it into that position on the SR5s, and the SRs, plenty of room.

Thanks for the follow up! I'm going to order one this week and get the hoses from the local Pirtek.

Is that Phil at Springwood in Brisbane?
Anyway, Phil at Pirtek has all the gear you need to do this job, including the right Gates R7 hose and the MH Provent 200 catch can.

Phil is actually a personal friend of mine. I used to live with his cousin :)

That's where I got all my hoses for the provent install

Ye, Phil is a good guy, and he deserves the business.
Tell them Ranger Roo sent ya.
There was a post I read where I was asked about the Ranger vehicle.
That would be good on a Ford Ranger forum.

I have a 2007 SR5 manual KUN26 and like the idea of a Provent complete fitting kit, as expensive as it may look. I watched the Youtube video which suggests it will suit "from 2005" Hilux models, but their web page says "from 2008 - on", and that there needs to be a 140mm gap from the Brake master cylinder to the air cleaner housing on the drivers side. My measure says 120mm from the metal cylinder to the air cleaner housing. Am I measuring this wrong? Has anyone fitted the kit to a 2007 model and got pics or advice? Or did the 2008 model have some change under the bonnet which gives extra space?

Mine is a 2007 SR. Tight fit, but fitted straight in. All good.
I did make my own bracket to fit in this spot though. :)

Spoke to the Western Filters guys and they were unsure whether their bracket (Provent fitting kit) would fit.

They specify a gap between the end of the master cylinder and the air filter housing of 140mm.

I've measured my MY12 2013 SR and it's 120mm. I've checked the ones at work and they're 120mm too.

Image

I'm hoping one of you fellas have successfully fitted the kit to the same setup as above cos I don't want to shag around returning the kit and losing $30 on the postage if it doesn't fit. Bob is saying in his build thread he doesn't think it will fit in 120mm - his is 140mm but on the 2014 SR5 not the SR.

BCH asked about this above but we haven't had a reply specifically about the Western Filters kit.

Thanks, and sorry to hear that.

I'm gonna let Western Filters know that the kit does not fit the SR.

G'day Harster, I have fitted the western filters kit to my 2012 SR and had to modify the supplied bracket as shown in the attached photos, what I did was to move the bracket so that the last bolt hole for the ABS (engine side) lined up with a hole I drilled in between the holes supplied on the bracket, I then used the rear supplied hole on the bracket and used a short tech screw through it to prevent any movement(there should be enough space under the raised ABS mount for this screw to fit with out going into the wheel guard proper).
I also trimmed down the filter end of the supplied bracket to give clearance to the engine air filter hose.
Tip, trial fit the filter assembled on to the bracket with the drain hose attached as the position of the drain hose clamp may interfere with the inner guard.
The job took me about 90 minutes.
Regards Neil

Thanks Neil, much appreciated. I'll weigh up making a bracket vs buying, may well give you a call. Cheers.

Hi guys,

I did make up my own bracket & mounted the seperator between the master cylinder & the air cleaner. I posted a report (which you can find on page 10 of this thread) and there is also a link to 5 photos.

Hope that helps

Thanks again guys, some interesting options there. Hiluxy - I don't think I'm smart enough to make a bracket as good looking as yours!

Krat - I'd probably be able to make up one like yours which would be the best solution for me, but.....

Image

this is in the way and I ain't gonna move it.

Still mean to talk to Western Filters to tell them that they've got a good design that fits whatever %age of the market SR5s have, but if they want the SR slice of the pie then it's back to the CAD.

It's looking like Neil's solution is gonna be best for me, though I still hate the idea of having to mod $175 of "convenience" to get it to fit.....but probably better than me screwing around with the mig welder for a weekend....
