I have had Billies on since 2007 and done 140,000 k. No problems with front struts but have had two rears leak over that period.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

Last month had my Billies bushing (bottom eye) failed (only had 10k plus). Quickly went back to the dealer to have them replaced. Just scared end up breaking it like the above posts. Replaced FOC by the way. Good people indeed.

Yeah i have had two go in mine, mine were both boges struts with life time warranty and both got replaced, Said i was only one who broke them and recons i hit something, one was snapped above the eye and other was around the eye. Wrecked my cv boots both times and one time had to get tow truck as it hit up agains cv and had no tools on me, changed for free but damage it caused and tow truck payed by me which is annoying. starting to get annoyed with the hilux now,

I've had mine on the Hilux for 150k klms and just got back from crossing the Simpson. No problems at all. I love them, first mod for any new Hilux for me.

My mate in his Prodo snapped a lovells shock last year between Tibooburra and White Cliffs, going though a floodway, it tore the bottom out of the shock. The lovells where still under warranty and they didn't want to know about it. He had to BUY a replacement.

Yep Had a Bilstien let go on me. It Was in the middle of a Padock, outside of Warren in NSW. You can see how muddy it was and dont have to work out how hard it was to replace, in a farmers shed with basic tools.

As you can see it the shaft snapped off as well as the stem bending.
I dont blame the bilsteins though.... My progesssive bump stops failed, so there was nothing to stop the shock from topping out and after a few days of tearing through paddocks chasing pigs.....

An I just thought all that scrubbing from the front end meant that my springs has sagged a bit.... ha ha.
As luck would have it, while i was looking for a hammer in one of the sheds, I found a set of terrain tammer shocks that the farmer had ordered months ago and never put in. It was just a 4 hour round trip into Dubbo to get the springs and shocks assembled at Opposite Lock Dubbo.

I now have Rekon's in the Front....

Snapped the shaft on mine. Only have a photo after I did a temporary patch. Managed to drive 600kms home. Had very limited turning with the 33s on the front.
hit a deep pothole at 80km/h.

Has anyone heard of with the calloffroad bilstein struts the lower spring plate, the cast alloy adjustment disc, breaking or collapsing at all? I have heard of it but no real evidence of it either I havnt found anything on here about it as yet. Just wondering and there some nice breaks guys. Hope I wont have to worry about that but time will tell.

A mate of mine snapped his CalOffRoad one as well.
The bushes fail in the clevis end of the strut which causes the clevis end of the strut to bind onto the LCA, which causes the strut to snap.
I fitted the Ultimate struts which have an eccentric clevis end, so if the bushes wear or begin to fail they wont allow the clevis end to rub against the LCA.
See pic below.

I thought it was a very clever way to alleviate this problem. Also the bottom of the Ultimate strut looks to be as solid as a rock.
Cheers
