Hello from USA / Nicaragua

Postby Gfruge on Fri, 04 Aug 2017 12:00 +0000

Hello all!

I'm originally from the United States, but have property and whatnot in Nicaragua. I recently bought a used 2010 Toyota Hilux in Nicaragua. As time progresses, I'm sure I'll have questions, but want to introduce myself for now. 2/3 of my time is spent in the US and the other 1/3 in Nicaragua.

D4D 2.5l, 4x4, crew cab, manual tranny

My immediate future plans for it include leveling out the front end and getting a set of Maxliner floor mats for it. Will also start looking at adding extra lights (light bars) and maybe HID headlamps.

Trying to keep it simple as I plan another project. 1974 BJ40.

Since I did buy this vehicle 2nd hand, any recommended maintenance to do immediately? I haven't researched interval maintenance yet. Oil change, fuel filters, & air filter are in the plans already.

Hi Gerald, I have almost the same model in Arkansas. Where do you live in the US. Mine is a 2009 2.5L double cab with manual tranny. Have had no major problems with my Hilux, but I have been looking for a source of parts in case I need something like a windshield, body part or diesel part as these are not available in NA. Do you have contacts with a reliable dealer in Nicaragua that would ship me parts if I needed them?

I'm in Nicaragua now and make frequent trips here. I can get you anything and bring back to the US, as long as it fits in a suitcase. I have a few contacts here personally, but know people who know lots of people. When in the US, I'm currently working out of Odessa, Texas. Let me know if you need anything.
