Hi, new Hilux, BP-51s and a few other things fitted

Been lurking for a few weeks since I picked up my Hilux. Didn't want to post an introduction until all the parts had been fitted. Well, at least the bullbar and suspension.

How I picked her up a few weeks ago, new from the dealer.

The ride is incredible. It doesn't feel like a big 4wd. Smooth is an understatement. I've owned some very nice driving cars in the past, and this is up there with the best of them. I'm not disappointed spending the cash. I was, and still am, blown away by just how much it has transformed the vehicle in the short drive I've done with it today.

It's been rustproofed, and I have some spotlights and LED light bars sitting here ready to go on still. Dual batteries and outlets in the tubs fitted by ARB. Front camera fitted, reversing sensors, few other bits and pieces all organised by Toyota (along with the stuff ARB fitted this week, service has been amazing).

Still undecided what wheels and A/T tyres to fit to it. I'm open to suggestions.

Nice looking ute mate! Good to hear about the bp51, usually your suspension will settle down to probably 40-50mm after a few months. But at least you can adjust your preload etc.

If you are going to do any medium to heavy 4wd you should replace the flimsy alloy side steps with steel sliders or arb side rails/steps. Worth every cent.

No serious 4wd'ing on the cards in the immediate future, but I imagine I'd probably end up with arb side rails and steps in a few years, I have my eyes on them already. It's going to be a hunting/camping/weekend vehicle and my daily inner city driver for a while, with the intention of doing some touring in the future.

Very nice looking rig mate. Jealous of the suspension.

If you're looking for some trick wheels check out Race Wheels Australia. They are located at Lawnton and import Method wheels. Look the bomb and will be my choice when I need new tyres. Have you considered muddies? I have the KM2's and after doing 20k hardly look worn. Got 70k out of the last set.

I couldn't tell you the exact figure off the top of my head marco, it was all organised for me by Toyota as part of the sale and rolled into the packaged price, I think it worked out just north of $4k installed for a full set though. I know it was a few hundred bucks under retail because of the dealerships relationship with ARB.

As for ride height, it was more than I was expecting - about 60mm!

Took it on a hunting trip over easter, there were some pretty rough tracks on the property and a few washouts etc. I'm very impressive with just how nice it was to drive. You could easily forget you were driving off-road!

On another note, I like the KM2's, My mate has a set on a 2014 hilux and they are great, a lot better than my MTZ's were for road noise, I am just running BF all terrains now as I mostly just do road miles, well I just do a lot  a few thousand mixed a week.
