Hey guys, its about time i make a build thread for my lux..

Ive owned it for about 5 months now and havnt really taken to many photos of the build process but i will take photos of everything that has been done so far.

I bought the car off my uncle who owns a mechanical workshop (MAS - Marrickville Automotive Services) in Sydenham. All of the suspension work was pretty much done by him before i bought the car so i was cheering.

This is the car on the night i picked it up and my first trip away to Duckmaloi Creek shortly after.

My first Upgrade, since i had to return the wheels and tyres to my unlce so he could put them on his new lux were some 285/75/16 MTZ's on 16" Dynamic Rims. Followed shortly by a Bodymount chop..

Well whatever he does he has to do it big and extravagant which makes it hard to keep up with him lol.

Im thinking of doing the same to the original sidesteps?? what you guys reckon? i know they will get scratched but ill just keep a can of spray paint in the car and touch it up.. I have a brand new rear bar waiting to go on once i repair the damage at the back so that will get done befre it goes on also.

Ye they are great, 1st gear has been cut abit short compared to before but overall it drives beautifully.

G'day mate,

Nice looking ute champ. I have painted the factory side steps on both my hilux's (check out my build thread). I found it came up well. How did you go painting the roll bar. Did you etch prime it first....???

Yea i etch'd it first and then just applied 2 coats of kill rust matte black spray paint and it came up just as good as a powder coat. My unlce got his rear bars powder coated and honestly for 30 buck compared to whatever he paid, you cant tell the difference.

I might rip my sidesteps off today and do the same thing.Im installing my humex tomorrow so might try and do it before or in between. Nice looking lux by the way, looks mean.

Fitted up my Exhaust that i got from crossport today.. All i have to say is WOW, i love it, its got a nice deep rumble and has a nice blow off sound when letting go of the accelerator. Climbs up hills alot easier to.

Getting the dump pipe off was a real pain but we got there in the end.

Did any of you guys get yours re-tuned after fitting an exhaust?

Thanks mate!! the paint seems very durable so far. Im torn between painting my sidesteps black or leaving them off. Since i took them off so i could paint them, im actually liking the look.
Soooo what are your opinions, paint sidesteps black or leave it stepless.

Looks good mate, I noticed the flex joint in your humex, mine hasn't got one, they must have relised they needed one in the end.

Cheers Troy

Looks good.

You would be surprised how many companies don't have a flex or anything on their systems.

Firstly ur car looks awesome, love the Black look, I got back/aluminum wheels it looks nice but not mean enough.
In regards to your side steps, I would suggest asking yourself hoe much off road you do as they bend so easily. 1st time I took my new steps out I bent the life out of them. Couldnt straighten them, Then I was advised that they can actually bend your sill underneath. So I grabbed some ARB side steps and fitted them. They come in Black U can choose to put the alloy checker plate on or maybe paint that Black. I think Matt at Monster has some as well.
That would be the way I would go....
Used my ARBs yesterday 4 the 1st time came home straight still.. :P

I doubt the original exhaust will be worth much??

I might just keep it, never know what could happen down the track, ill be kicking myself when the day comes and i need it back lol

Just out of curiosity, how much have you guys gotten rid of them for??
