PARR's Makeover... Weekend at LCMP

Postby Parr on Sat, 03 Jul 2010 3:39 +0000

Well after having my lux for 3years, its time for a makeover. contacted bubs about 2weeks ago regarding his SAS, and a few more bits. So the plan is Bub's custom 80 series SAS swap, rear 4-link using a GQ diff with inverted foxes and custom springs. to top it off is a custom front bar sliders and a new tray. CANNOT WAIT

goin to run 35 MTZ's and front locker but really thinking about doing the rear aswell.

pulled the tub off 2day and dropping the car it off tomorrow, estimated around 5 weeks (currently at 15 months :o but alot has changed)

Currently the lux has:

Buds Customs +05 SAS conversion, Buds Customs Custom diff housing running 105 series internals, custom drop arms, custom chromoly steering links & panhard rod, and 10" fox coilovers

Buds Customs 4-link conversion, Buds Customs custom IFS hilux diff housing hilux internals, Buds Custom heavy duty control arms, custom rate king coil springs disc break conversion, 12" fox remote res shocks & an Antirock swaybar

4.11 ratios, front & rear air lockers

Monster Rides & Buds Custom prototype plate bar

Buds Customs sliders

Buds Customs comp style tray 1300 long, 300mm cut from the rear  , fold down light bar

Buds Customs gear box X-member (needed for the new front links)

Buds Customs custom 130ish L fuel tank mounted behind the rear diff

Taipan XP custom built exhaust

Monster Rides wider flares

Monster Rides DEPO headlights, with Newpro-tech HID upgrade 35w low 55w high

Monster Rides pillar pod, with autometer cobolt boost and pyro

Rapid chip, sprint booster, smartguage, bogart turbo timer

Full alpine type R sound system

Mickey Thompson 315/75/16 MTZ's on DC-2 rims

Warn 8274 High mount - 6hp motor, braced drum, tapped brake shaft.

Uhf, duel battery and some other bits

how it was

so who is next haha. well dropped it off today and saw the one that bub's just finish the sas on and wow his work is amazing it looks s#!t hot.

slight change in plans no longer using a gq diff because of the abs problem. keepin the hilux diff and doing a disc break conversion, and this means more clearance woot.
its going to be a long 5weeks.

Parr. Sounds mint I'm so green with envy my rig is a few years off being alowed to do a sas did u consider a prado 90 or 120 rear swap so u can keep abs but still get coil rear? I believe the chasis to be of similar spec dimension wize

Can't wait to see how it all turns out for u

I'm really just going off bub's suggestion for the rear but i would assume the only advantage for using a prado rear would be the disc brakes, because using 4-link all the linkages would need to be changed. As for disc brakes bubs is getting me a price on that i would assume its going to be cheaper than a prado housing.

im swinging more in the direction of colour coded, i think back would have looked good with a tube front bar but the bar is goin to be monster rides new prototype plate bar. on the other hade the black will look good with black rims.

IMO colour matched with chrome or chrome and black rims to break it up, will look heaps cleaner and a whole lot nicer. Looking forward to seeing it come together might have to keep making the weekly trip to Buddys place to check it out as it comes along 8-) 8-)

well i was talking rims and tires yesterday with fourbys. i wanted to go a 16x10 dc2 but with a -25 and and 4.5 back spacing would have had a lot of tire hanging out. so looks like a 16x8 it is

max, boof drives jeeps now its all about the show

out of curiosity, are there any problems with getting this engineered in QLD ? traps for new players to keep in mind ?
