TRS build

So the body lift went in today, fairly straight forward and the instructions were pretty good!
There was a few fiddly bits like the radiator drop brackets [emoji48] but nothing a few beers couldn't get you through!
spent about 6 hours doing it but I wasn't doing the lift the whole time, spent most of my time cleaning and did the rear seat mod while it was out too.

Half way there
Image

Had to modify the cab and rubber boot holder a little as the 4wd gear stick was hitting on the body after it was lifted, if I put it back together like this the rubber boot would have stopped you from being able to change into 2 high or 4 high
Image

Just bent the flap of the body down, plenty of room now
Image

and cut a section out of the plate that holds the boots down

Don't mind the look of them at all, what offset are your rims? And what do you reckon about going them in a 305? Kind of want to try it out?

TOYZX,
I had a look on the Hankook website and they don't list a 305/70r16!
Neither do Nitto, the only thing I found in that size was the BFG's
But thats what I have at the moment, I'm not sure if they are a bad batch or really old because I had them on my rodeo and they were awesome. The ones on the lux a noisy as hell and are literally falling to bits, drive over a rock and lose a lug.
So I wanted to try something different.

This is a 305 in the BFG's, I like alot!

So this happened during the week. Bought and installed the steinbaur and I must say I am very disappointed!
Honestly the only difference I've noticed is higher EGT's around 200-250 degrees higher.
I'm not sure if this is just caus I had such high expectations or what but at the price it was I was really expecting to at least feel something behind the wheel. I even turned it upto 130%.. still nothing. Whats everyones elses experience with them??

If you don't mind me asking, for price did you pay for it?
If i was going to spend anything on performance, i think i've been persuaded to go for a piggy back ECU like a HKS F-CON. Hopefully someone could agree and steer you in the right direction.

Cameron12, $1,650 mate. I really want to keep the reliability and just be able to unplug it and go back to stock normal if need be. as I'd be well and truly stuck up shit creek if something went wrong where we go camping. And from what I read everyone said the steinbaur is good for exactly that.
I'm pretty happy with the stock power as my previous car was a slow-deo  but I'm about to go to 33's and just wanted something a little extra as everyone says they suck the power.

Had a spare day today so I decided to get the body mount chop out of the way for when the new shoes arrive.
Shoutout to amitch888, who emailed me through some pictures of how he did his.
Much prefer this way as when its finished you can hardly tell anything has been done.

Should really have done this when I did the body lift as I pretty much had to re do it [emoji49] But the old man was out of town and I don't know how to use his welder.

The cutout

Small wedge cut out from underneath aswell

Now It's the first time I've ever welded so give me a break [emoji1]

Thankgod for grinders!!

Also installed the droop limiters from monster rides while the wheels were off.
Im a little worried, looks like the rubber is being pushed to the absolute max. Im worried the rubber is going to wear or rip off whatever its moulded to and by UCA is going to then come down on that and possibly damage them.
Is anyone else running them, how are they going and do they look like this?
Image
even when the car is sitting on the ground, the rubber is still compressed, so yeah am worried they might wear out quick??

On the upside the boots are no longer touching and the cv isnt binding

Just realised imghostr has closed down and all my pictures are gone [emoji35]

Abit has been happening to the lux, got new tyres and lifted the bullbar to suit the body lift.
I am about to get some steel and start making my rear bar too.
First of all I'll start at the start and re upload all the photos via tapatalk which I've just downloaded.

So I lifted the bullbar a few weeks ago, was a very rushed job as I started on the Thursday arvo, had work Friday and was leaving early Saturday morning for a trip and hadn't packed or anything [emoji23] but I got there!!
Modified the mounted brackets by cutting off the crush tubes and re welding them higher up.
Due to the strange angle I had to cut up some little pieces to fill in the gaps.
ImageImage
Image

Also got some new tyres during the same week. Decided to go with the BFG's again caus they were the only one that had a 305 that I could get here in time before the trip
ImageImage

I did the bashing back of the pinch weld and modifying of the wheel arch infills before I got the tyres so I'm not sure if I really needed to do it. There seems to be heaps of room now so I probably could have gotten away with it.

I did however find that they still contacted the flares. off road under compression and slight turning the outside of the wheel would grab the bottom of the flare.
Nothing mr grinder couldn't fix

Cheers boys!!
She's starting to come together now.

A few pics of the last trip up to cape flattery. Never been there before, such a great spot. Amazing drive in and awesome fishing and diving too.
The local aboriginal council is pushing to close it off to the public. Such a shame.

Only just fit through the tunnel with the swag on the top! Had to take the tinny off the other lux and drag it through. ImageImage

No snorkel, no worries [emoji23][emoji23] had a fair bit of water in the filter box after we went through this one

Thats a bit disappointing, was expecting to really feel the difference from all the feedback I've read and from friends should be able to hold higher gears through the hills and turns.

I just picked one up second hand got a great deal I'll let you know how mine goes.

also dam man ...car is looking hot as, inspired me to get the headlights also.

lerroy, Thanks mate!
Just abit of an update, I don't know if the chip was playing up at the start or what but now that I have the bigger tyres on, all of a sudden it seems to have more power now than it ever has! definitely notice the biggest difference when in the higher gears and yeah going up hills, just seems to hold and push the revs up.
A hill near home where before I could only get to 80ks an hour then couldn't go any faster until it levelled out.
I now get to 100ks and then have to back off caus im at the top of the hill.

Also if you really want to change the feel of the car, grab one of these throttle controllers.
It doesn't actually increase performance whatsoever. Just alters the throttle curve to make it feel that way.
This combined with the chip I'm not even considering a rear gear, so with smaller tyres it would be even better.
Image
Mounted it there so it's out of view while driving but still easily accessible. as the screen constantly displays throttle position.
Image
You can also adjust so the throttle is less responsive than stock. This is handy when in low 4 going over rocks and stuff and bumping the throttle making the car lurch. Adjust it down and it Makes the ride a lot smoother
