Thx Luke!

On other thoughts, the the new wheels are pretty similar offset to what i had before with my steeles on 8" wide with 0 offset... So am starting to think of putting on the original flares...
What do you guys think?

Not happy with the jungle flares?? They look bad ass tho! I run 285s on 0 offset and I'm sick of the mess all the time cos they hang out of the factory flares, I'll be fitting some luke yours when I get around to it.

well... i'm happy, but not with the fitment on them, thats why ive got to work on them :P
Just thinking that the wheels are tucked under and not flush with the flares... and for me that looks kinda weird

Yeah I'd rather have them hanging out then tucked under too!

Yup, look tougher that way :P
Just hope that the coppers around here don't stop me for driving with wheels that are way over the offset that is legal :P But will first try to make the front ones that go on the front bumper first before i make a decision :)

Have you thought about getting a 'play' tyre and rim set for the fun tracks and keep your original set for daily driving to keep things legal, well most of the time...
Just think of them as tramping boots - you wouldnt wear them all the time but wouldnt be with out them when venturing ourdoors

Youve got a point there, but the roads there arent the best, so even if i get a set of ATs, it would still make noise where ever i drive :P

I'm planning to do one over the tub, eventually. I know it will limit what I can do with/put in the tub but I'd prefer that than having it added onto the top of the cab. I'd prefer to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible and keeping the wind resistance down will be nice too.

Did some work yesterday and installed it in the truck today.
Before i only had one big box taking up much space for tools and stuff, but now i made a low profile toolbox :)

Nice use of the space. How did you fix it down?

Using 2 of these on each side, total of 4 to mount it in place with bolts.

After searching a while and looking for options for a Bed Rack for the Hilux, I decided that I would try to make my own. Getting the ones you have in the US over to Norway is a little to expensive for me.

A friend of mine will make the brackets for me.
Will be using Thule Square-bars as crossbars.

Will also buy a RTT for the car.

Hope everything goes as planned for the coming weeks. [emoji3]

The idea I've drawn down:

Edit 25.01: new design

I'm also in the process of trying to design a rack or cage over the tub to support a RTT, mine is on paper though haha. There's so many possible variations, it's hard to decide. I think I want to go with a cage so I can eventually get canvas or a tonneau to cover it all again.

From your above design, I'm guessing you plan to keep a tonneau over the tub, under your racks and tent?

I do so agree Sam, i’m on the TacomaWorld forum also and have gone through multiple posts about bedracks and RTTs, and still looking on other designs, also a bolt together system for easy stow away if i needed to do so :)

I thought about a cage design also, but because of the tonneau as you say, i think i will be going for this type as long as im able to make the brackets i want :)
