Gonna have to pinch your idea with the tie down points in the back of the cab.
Looking at fitting a sub woofer in there and that would work perfectly! :D

I got a week off work last week and decided to head off in search of glory and honour (read mud, fish, dust, drinks etc.). I quickly chucked on the recovery point from ARB, it may have cost a fortune but I can't really fault them for it, its a bloody good bit of gear, it will tear the chassis before the bit I bought.

Cut a hole in the factory guard and this was what it looked like up in the middle of nowhere... flexin hahaha.

And I'll just leave these here.

The build continues, I saw the trick about flicking the towbar over to get better departure angle and though that sounds like a good little job. Well wasn't I wrong! It looks like the tongue hasn't moved in all 8 years of the cars life. Anyway towbar off completely a sledge hammer and some inch think rebar later she's out! Gotta grind back the rust on the tongue and inside the housing and repaint it all. Got some work ahead.

Was lucky to get the bastard out backinalux Lol this is what the tongue looked like after it came out.

Ground all the rust off on the tongue and inside the tongue slot and its moving nice and freely through.

Painted the lot of it matte black and left to dry overnight I'll put it all back together and some pics this afternoon.

Cheers MONGO, it just so happened that I ordered another major piece yesterday... winch is on the way! I ended up with a Supa 7hp winch with dyneema rope. They had it on special for 437 with free delivery... yep I'll give it a go. When the tax comes back it'll be a full tray revamp and hopefully take the dint out of the passenger's side sills.

Cheers

I hate not being able to see behind my vehicle at night. I went and purchased the spotlight version of the LED pods of my bull bar and swapped them out. So the light out of the front us better already throws much further but still some good spill. Today my dad and I wired up a rear facing work light on top of my rollbar out of one of the floodlights. Thing is awesome! Will come in really handy when camping and spotlighting.

I got a card in the mail yesterday saying they'd missed me... to deliver my winch :D I'll go and pick it up monday, very keen!!

Tomorrow I've decided I'm painting my wheels black. I'm over the white rims when absolutely everything else is black. Wish me luck.

Painted the wheels black using an anticorrosive anti rust satin black. Decided to do it while the wheels were still on because you can't see bugger all behind it.

Masked up.

After it was all done 4 coats later. Its really thick tough stuff hopefully it will last. Really like how it looks except for one rim that didn't come out so well but its only if you get up close and personal you can see some run lines. From any more than a metre away you can't tell.

Looking good I reckon, winch on Monday, well pick it up anyway I'm not sure on installing it.

Cheers

Cheers Bob and Steff, I'm very happy with how they look, heaps better now. When I come to changing rims (in the long term future) I'll look to get some alloys but I can guarantee you they'll be black (maybe with a silver bead lock look just for accent ;))

Ok so I'm going to try attaching pics on tapatalk instead of photo bucket. Fingers crossed.

I picked up my winch on Monday morning and it looks pretty good, got it back and went to a friends to watch the walking dead. No work completed. This afternoon I put the unit in and the hawse on. I have a cunning plan for mounting the control box, but that will come later. Anyways here's some pics.

Alrighty so I spent most of today either in minor pain or close to hear exhaustion but the winch is in and working! Mounted the control box behind the Toyota badge its a tight fit but it works and all you see out the front is where to plug in the controller.

There are large access holes in the top of the bar which makes it fairly straightforward to reach in. It also helps that the clutch control is a proper size turning knob not a piddly little lever, its also very easy to turn. We'll see how we go if it stiffens up.

Went for a bit of a play today got some good footage. However I have now found out where the leaks are in my car as there was a bit of a hole that I managed slide into and get a bit if water under the carpets... ah well these things happen. Will post the video to YouTube when I get a chance and get some pictures up as well.
