Hi everyone, just wanted to share my build with you all... I took delivery of my new 2013 turbo diesel sr5 on the 4th of may, since then i have installed new suspension, up front it has Bilstein adjustable struts with King springs and in the rear, Kings leafs with Bilstein shocks. I didnt get to measure the ride height before and after the new suspension went it, but its about 3 inches lifted. While the suspension was getting done i also had the new tyres fitted. I went with BF Goodrich KM2's in 265/70/17, " 32's ".

The hilux is booked in at ARB next week for the fitment of the colour coded deluxe winch bar and snorkel. Might also get them to fit up there underbody bash guards or winch or there intensity led driving lights, just got to decide which one of them three is most important to me at this time.... Will post some pics once its done...

Was thinking of replacing them with arb side steps and brush rails, but trying to work out the benefit of brush rails...??? If I decide not to install brush rails then I probably don't need to stick with arb side steps either... Would like to here people's thoughts on the functionality of brush rails ? Recommendations on other brands of side steps...

Just had a look at your build Caleb.R, it's looking real good. Ill be watching your build with interest... Looks like you might have the same suspension as mine, I couldn't be happier with mine, the ride quality is a massive improvement on the standard suspension, considering I have heavy duty front springs and constant 300kg's rear springs, and its still smoother.

Mate the brush bars are worth it ,they have saved me a few times.I hit a big roo coming back from Yawal and coming through a narrow and muddy gateway at the end of a convoy the truck slide sideways into a post and the bars saved the guard. The only downside to mine is I havent fitted flares yet and where the dirt etc has flicked up from the tires it bounces off the bars and has marked the guards, but the new flares will cover that.

Cheers Mike

I would be going the brush bars countless times they have saved my panels from damage in extreme cases even if they flex a little when your truck is leaning on the its still better than the pannel damage you would get without them .Although if you are going to tackle any tuff stuff you will be wasting your money with the arb steps the can still flex and damage your sills ,better to go a set of sliders with scrub bars .

Hey mate.
I saw that uta and thought to my self I know that ute.
It looks a bit different to the last time I saw It ( I see all hilux's out of Toowoomba) and I take notice because I have one.
Looking very nice now.
if you ever want to go for a wheel or need a hand with truck, drop me a line more than happy to help, Im in Toowoomba as well.
sorry to hi-jack the thread but i wanted to say g'day.
IMO side rails make the hilux look a little to rural for my likings, and dont really save a roo coming through, it may save a bit of pannel damage out wheeling, but I have also seen the crack chassie after the driver headbutted the car in front at 70klm PLUS.
The force went through the rails and into the chassie and twisted the chassie. it was a big hit though.

Yeah mate I think I do, what groove do you have your lock ring in? Bottom or middle? I think mines sitting just a tad over 2 inches but was trying to achieve more like 3... I will get there with a 10mm strut spacer and new UCA's..

I'm having the same dilemma at the moment. Think I've decided on some buds custom rock sliders with brush rails .. Think I was quoted $1100

Hi Craig, which hilux did you see, my new one or the old white one.. Have a look at my shed, there is some pics of my old white lux, im sure you would have seen it around... I drive my white one to work everyday and the missus has taken the new one to her work a few times... Just had a look at your shed, you have some nice gear installed on your truck... Definitely have to catch up some time, good to see someone else on here from Toowoomba....

The ARB steps and brush bars are just that ,,, "steps".

Have a look under a lux with them fitted and you'll see the diffence of protection and slidding ability between brands.

After i checked out under a lux at st peters ARB , i have oppted to get a custom set made with the rail along the bottom where you realy need it. (might be starting the build this weekend)

Food for thought.

nice rig dude. i have said tis before,, the factory rims look so good with BFG's on them but just not wide enough. sweet pic.

Very disappointed this morning, have just discovered that there is in fact a srs airbag fitted in the drivers side pillar, well part of the airbag anyway, which means that the pillar gauge pod I bought was a waste of money.
