Hi Guys,

Ive been lurking around the edges of this forum for a while now umming and areing as to weather I upgrade my old 95 LN106 to a new lux. After searching for the right second hand car for literally years I had decided I would buy a new one in the new year. $42500 for a white SR manual with alloy tray was about the best price I could get from a little bit off haggling with the local dealer. So that was it stop looking... sign up and get it delivered....not so easy for me  . Looking at second hand luxes on the net was now a habit and as it turned out I found the one I was after.

March 2012 build, cab chassis, 6 months old and 15 thou on the clock just 2 hours drive away. Bit of negotiation over the phone and we agreed on a price $34800 including delivery to my tray supplier. SOLD :D

AS PURCHASED

So it was out with the buff and on to carsales with the old 2.8D that had served me well for the last 12 years. Listed Friday night sold Saturday afternoon, $10000 you bloody ripper.

THE OLD GIRL - 12 years of faithful service

Anyway I picked up my new lux with its shinny new tray yesterday, very vanilla at the moment but I hope to get some mods happening soon.

You need to do the traditional thing and beat those side steps into submission before you get lift - a dual cab with dead straight steps looks a little suss.

Thanks guys, the comfort is on another level, love the truck so far.

I just ordered some wetseat seat covers, hope they fit well. I got the universal ones apparently they are a good fit for Lux seats

I've got the wet seat covers front and back. Really good fit and do a good job saving the seats from a dog that loves swimming in muddy water holes! Really easy to clean to.

Well I got the wet seat covers on the other week, very happy with them. For a universal fit seat cover they look almost tailor made. I have also crossed the tint off the list 8-)

The only downer is that I too have a couple kids in the back alot of the time and they dont protect the back of the seats. Didn't really think about that before I ordered them.

Been a while since I've updated, I ordered some utemart flares in January but I was told there was up to a 16 week wait as they were out of stock.... I couldn't wait that long so I ended up going with ARB fibreglass one piece versions (no bullbar). Pretty happy with then and they seem to fit quite well. I grabbed a snorkle from ARB also, did want to have to remove the flares once I had them fitting nice. so here is a few pics.

Safari snorkel template, I wouldn't say its perfect. Don't really know why they can't get it perfect instead the instructions say drill 16mm holes for 8mm bolts.... I suppose it doesn't matter once its all done anyway. Pretty easy job too, the hardest bit was getting the inner guard off.

Nothing like taking a holesaw to the new car

Flares went on after the snorkel and it was time to make a decision on the wheels. After lots of thought on what offset and style to go for I ended up with some prado 150 series 17" alloys on 265*65 BFG all terrains. They are +25 offset and sit pretty nice I think and look kinda factory.... Very happy :D

Image

Here are some pics of offset with the standard wheels and ARB flares
Image
It measures 66mm from edge of tyre to outside of ARB flare with the standard 16" wheels I think they are a +45 offset.

This is a pic with the +25 and 265*65*17, now it measure 16mm.

Looks flash mate.

No problems putting the prado wheels on the 2012 sr without VSC? I like the look of it and wouldn't mind putting a set on my 2012 SR.

What were the damage for the wheels if you don't mind me asking? Did you buy new or second hand?

Also do they rub the inside of the tyre wall when on full lock?

Cheers

Thanks mate, really happy with how it looks. Looked pretty silly there for a while when I was driving around with the skinnies and flares...

No problem at all that I'm aware of.. I bought them new but I believe they are imported copies with Toyota badges. PM me if you want the details of the guy. I haven't been off road with them yet but on the road there is no rubbing at all. They are very close to the front bumper at full lock so time will tell but I think they will be ok.
