Dermy's build (sold)

Postby dermy on Sat, 01 Oct 2011 2:46 +0000

well I thought its about time to start a build thread. I'll start with a little bit about my 4wheeling experiences.

my names James im 21 and this is my first 4wd its a 2006 sr dc 3ltr td hilux.

i first started 4wdriving when I was a kid with my old man we use to be in the jeep 4wd club and did many trips such as Vic high country and at least 3 or 4 simpson desert in our trusty 80 series. In 2000 my old man purchased a diesel 100 series the day he got it it was off to arb for a bull bar, winch, safari turbo and intercooler, rear bar and wheel carrier, UHf, barrett VHF, bfg at, blue tongue air compressor 80ltr engel and a 150ltr long range tank.

All this work was done for a 4 week canning stock route trip up the centre of WA. this trip was a sole vehicle trip with my dad, his mate and son and me. All I can say about the trip is Wow what and experience I can't wait to take my son ( when I have one) on a trip like that.

anyway back on track my plan or the hilux was to make tourer/capable on the harder tracks..

I started with a standard hilux with a canopy

Image

with in 2 weeks I had a lift installed then arb bar and 265/75/16 bfg a/t ( I wish I got muddys now)
Image
Image

at this stage I also change the tail gate to an sr5 one( I didn't like the latches on the sr one)

Image
Image

I then added a set of narva 225 blue

Image

at this stage I did a day trip to tallarook with the newhilux crew

Image

new headunit, amp, boost gauge and light in canopy

I've got a heap more photos to add but it's becoming a pain to do it on an iPhone

I have exactly the same LED back up light but I mounted it differently.

9 LED, each 3w = 27w. Very good as a reverse lamp and the quality is not bad for only AUD$50.

My rear bumper is different from the Aussie version and the sides of the rear license plate is taken up by the factory rear parking sensors so I had to mount the LED light at the bottom of the bumper.

It doesn't help the departure angle but I don't do hardcore off road anymore so she'll be allright.

I use a ARB air locker switch to manually switch it on and off.
Cheers

Nice upgrade James. You don't have to leave us you know, the NewLandcruiser site is building up nicely, you might even spot a couple of familiar faces over there too ;)
