The brake pedal on my Hilux never felt flash and was as you describe. I used to give it a quick pump each time out of habit, then I got a nice firm pedal, but at the lights, always felt like you could quash it down further. ;)

TRDLuxxy wrote:John I need your help! Having brake issues. Now the vehicle brakes fine its just when I stop at an intersection or lights the pedal is spongy and sinks to the floor, when the vehicle is off the brake pedal feels rock hard which is what I prefer. I have gone over bleeding the brakes numerous times and zero bubbles are present, check valve is fine and creating vaccum have taken the master cylinder off and checked seals which are fine.

Do you know the correct brake booster pushrod length? If you measure the tip with a steel ruler to the flat surface of the booster where the master cylinder mounts too what is it? I know the workshop manual says 0mm but thats with an SST.

2012 SR non VSC, 25000km

I'm about to wave the white flag and see a brake mob, thanks.

On diesel Hiluxes that don't have the mods that you have, the brake feel isn't all that good at idle.
Give the boys at Slacks Creek Brake And Clutch a ring.

Tell them what you have done, so far, and see what they have to say. Ask Jeff about where your push rod should be.
When I am doing a master cylinder, I never touch the push rod. I haven't measured in there, either.
Sorry I couldn't help out any more than that.
Catch you later, John.

Feels smooth and solid, driving over corragated road at speed soaks it up but needs more adjustment.

Didn't get to adjust the front height today but found out my rear is 20mm too high for 50mm lift, this is measuring from top of bump stop to bump pad on the chassis which should be 100mm for 50mm lift..

Hopefully the front won't require much adjustment and I won't lose down travel!

Third leaf from the top needs to be removed.

Removed the 3rd leaf, rear dropped an inch which is perfect and now the front needs to come up half an inch and I'll be happy!

Sorry no photo's but I'll get some tomorrow.
