Mich, always best to use the search function to check for similar topics and then ask your question in one of the existing topics where possible. There's heaps of info on suspension and particularly a 2" lift.

To answer your question, depends on what you want to run. UCA's give you better clearance to your tyre allowing you to run wider tyres and also give you more caster which pushes the wheel forward allowing you to clear the body mount with bigger tyres (33's and up).

Thread merged.
Cheers Rod

2010 model SR5 with 15 inch standard alloys.
Front is 720mm from bottom of rim to edge of flare.
It has rebuilt Bilsteins on the top clip mount with Lovel springs. 18mm wire.
I have a custom rear tray so measurements are irrelevant.

Just ordered new King 101HD springs.

The Lovels and Bilsteins were in my 2005 Prado so I had them rebuilt and put in the Lux. Obviously the springs are shagged.

I have an ARB deluxe steel bar with Runva winch dual batteries.

Hey guys, so a quick question. What do you do now that your bottle jacks are too short at full extension on the front suspension? Are you all running hi-lift jacks or carrying a lump of wood about 100mm thick?

Ok sweet, the only downside to a 845mm full droop length on 17" rims

Hi everyone been searching trolling through all these threads re a 2"suspension set up for my new SR5 Hilux. Just when I think I have the answer it seems there is some variable that has me doubting what to get.

Basically I'm more interested in the front end as I only carry light loads in the rear and will just be fitting a set of comfort leafs back there.

I'm very keen on the Bilstein / King combo but am a bit unsure which spring to get and also what groove to set it on. Trying to get it right first time, so I don't have to pay extra to have them adjusted.

Will have an ARB Winch Bar, Warn 9500lb winch with wire, dual battery, ARB air compressor, spot lights etc on the front. ARB side steps down the side. Will be fitting BFG KM2 at 265/70/R17 on the standard 17inch SR5 Alloys.

I want to achieve approximately 55 to 60mm on install to account for a bit of settling to 45 to 50mm.Not interested in anything over that due to potential CV issues, castor correction etc. Plus my needs have changed nowadays from heavy 4x4 and touring in the NW of WA to now mainly beach work to get to surf spots, forest tracks and to be honest driving to and from work. Thus I'm only doing a very mild set up this time.

Was going ARB but 35mm at the front is just not enough. Did contemplate their kit with king springs though, but unsure if the OME sport struts would cope with the heavier coils. They were also asking around $2700 for the full kit installed. Which seems like around $700 to install.... Seems over the top and then had me thinking of self install.

So for those with a similar set up to mine....

I read some reports that the Bilstein combo was a bit too stiff (suspect monotube valving being the main culprit). Yet most love them. How stiff are they?

I have owned numerous land cruisers and all bar one (Ultimate kit) were fitted with OME including the LTRs. So how does the ride compare between OME and Bilstien, more specifically with a similar coil? Interested in the comparison between the gas charged shock vs the monotube variant.

For those that did fit the Bilstien with King Springs what would you recommend HD or HHD?
Then to achieve a 50mm lift with these springs, what groove did you use on the 3 groove struts? If I've read correctly it seems the top grove for the HD and bottom for the HHD.

Also for the WA guys with Bilstein who did you get your gear from? North of the River?

Finally as an alternative if you were to fit the OME kit, which King spring would you fit to cover my frontend load and achieve around 2" in height? HD or HHD? Spring Packers needed?

So in summary I want 50mm increase to support the bar/winch/bat combo, but don't want anything too stiff that makes you feel every little bump. (in WA we often have limestone capped tracks and this can become painful over time...)

Sorry for the long post and lots of questions, just very confused at the moment and keep getting led astray from the shops...

Thanks heaps in advance.

For bilstein suspension NOR your best bet I think would be Malaga Suspension as they seem to stock that gear.

200seriesttd, hey mate, I did the exact same with my hilux after the bullbar install here's a link to another thread on this very subject viewtopic.php?f=42&t=9380&start=20
If you want to see the difference in height I posted it on my build thread page. I went with ultimate pre-assembled struts I went from a hub to centre height of 470mm to 535mm. I went to this height to retain a descent front to rear rake to keep braking performance and load capabilities.
If I choose to lift the whole vehicle I only need to replace the coils to get it to 550mm. I had/have no issues with my alignment being in spec
