DIY rear springs change

Postby mauricem on Mon, 07 Nov 2016 9:14 +0000

One of the rear leaf springs has flattened out. Any real tricks to swapping it out beyond rusted nuts etc? Have axle stands, trolley jacks impact wrenches etc. no oxy but have had success using propane torch in the past with siezed nuts. Looks simple enough on the vids but dont want to be stuck and have to get it towed to a mech!

Easy as mate! Once I have the ute suspended I use a couple of motorcycle tie downs( one each side) to hold the diff up while swapping springs out.

Thanks for that, reckon I'll be OK, just that this rig has done a lot of beach work so expecting the worst! Good tip on tying the diff up, wouldnt want it to go wallkabout
