Suspension replacment

Suspension replacment

Postby woody7 on Tue, 12 Jul 2016 5:01 +0000

Hey guys I have a stock standard 07 sr5 dual cab and I think I need new shocks etc on rear as I think towing my boat(2t) and other loads has taken its toll over the years...my question is (forgetting about price) would I be better going for some after market products to replace my standard suspension (if so what should I go for)or shall I just stick with toyota replacments?
Thanks

Forgot about the stock stuff if ya plan to keep on carrying loads! I'd hate to know what a new set of genuine gear would set ya back! Spend ya coin on the good stuff, OME, ultimate suspension etc.

Complete suspensions are around $2000 at a starting point, some are couple hundred under this but add the fitting and youre at 2k, high end levels are $4000 to $5000
My last Hilux 2005 used King springs with Bilsteins was a dream for the 10 years but did break 2 shocks in that time, just spent extra on the OME and BP51 for current Hilux and well worth the extra, but time will tell if any issues.

Definitely around the 2-2.5k will get you sorted. Under 2 and you'll find yourself paying for it twice if ya know what I mean!

Get on the phone to Brendon at Ultimate Suspension in Ingleburn. Tell him you were referred from here. Not far from the $2000 mark and you won't even know it's the same vehicle. What speed bump?
Don't go too hard on the rear springs in my advice unless you have a high static load on the ute. I have hard on the front and soft on the rear, if you load the rear the load carrying lower springs are the same on all their springs so will still carry the load, they are just softer for normal driving. If you put a lot of towball load on when towing just fit some load levelling poly air bags.

can definitely recommend Ultimate Suspension. I've had their gear for near on 5 years and they've always looked after me
