Hello fellas

found some steel prado wheels avetised as 16X8

Question is are they really 8" or were they all 16X7?
if so they would suit 255/85/16 yer?
I am still waiting on my new Hilux but couldnt hurt to have wheels and tyres waiting in the shed

Sorry one more question,

Do you know if they fit on a new Hilux with 17" standard wheels?

I believe that they fit over the Prado brakes on latter models, so they should go over the new hilux brakes.

Anyone know for sure......Max

The brakes on the new SR5's that come with 17" wheels are bigger....so no 100$ gurantee they will fit.

Saying that they are the same brakes as FJ brakes and they came with 16" alloys in the states...but being steel wheel like I said there is no guarantee.

if you want tp swap for the smaller brakes to make these wheels fit Id be more than happy to swap with you ;)

There are quite a few guys on here that run the prado rims. If you know someone with a new model hilux, maybe you can arrange a test fit to see if it's going to work.

I fitted my rims to a 08 prado, and whilst it did fit over the brake setup, the wheel wouldn't spin, it was too close a fit and was binding up on the rim. Not sure if the brake setup is the same as a prado, but that might help.

Hi rodw

We've just recently bought an sr and doing it up. It will have a 2" lift and were looking at the 255/85 tires to give us more clearance. Did you have to make any modifications to the car to get these tires to fit? Do they rub at all? Also, how do you find them on sand?

Cheers
Tara

Hi,

Sorry for bringing this back up but did they say what the lowest psi they were running on these tyres, on a 8inch rim??

I have a set of sunraysia 16x8 with +20 offset sitting in the shed, was looking at getting rid of them but if I can run them with 33's might put them to good use.

Thanks

On a 2014 hilux, with 2" lift and 255/85x16 Tyres, do you need to change gears?

well it depends ... I have 2.5 D4D engine and as I know it has lower gears than 3.0 D4D ... so for mine 2.5 was no need to change ... as I know Arctic Truck during upgrading to 35 inch tires change gears for 3.0 and don't change gears for 2.5

I would be if you can afford the funds. the BFG's equate to 33.5 overall diameter so yes, your performance and gearing would suffer.

Edit: Nice setup Pilgrim, great offset and tyre size. Really suprised more people havent taken to this setup considering its easier to fit due to the narrower width than a 285 tyre, and works well with those that wish to stay at 2" lift.

Just wondering if there is any up-to-date feedback on running these tyres? Looking at buying a set but thought I'd check in to see how some of these rigs have gone over the years with the tall skinnys... anyone?

Hey boys

Sorry to ask a silly question, but I have just scored a set of Patrol rims 16x8 and wondering if the 255/85's km2's will fit on the rim or 7.5" the limit?

I don't drop the tire pressures crazy low, 15-20lb would be the least and rarely.

Cheers in advance

Craig

according to online calculator http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp you can fit 255x85R16 tyre on rims size from 16x6.5 to 16x9.5

Looks like they will be ok then. That's a handy calculater that is. I noticed you have been running the same tyre. How are you finding them?
