hi Maxx that photo of the above controll arm is with the steering at full lock and it never touches. at you can see in the photo at full lock there is a small gap about 5mm.

took the car out in the dunes bouncing it up every there are some slight marks On the uca

16x8 Steel Wheels +20 Offset

33/10.5x16 Silverstone MT117 Extremes

The Silverstones Extremes have a total diameter of 32.7" x 10.2" wide

I took the mud guard off and trimmed the back of the guard because the tyre was getting a lil close under compression with 1/2 lock on the steering. New mud guards have been made up now. So far no rubbing on anything

I don't have any pics on how close to the UCA the tyres are but I can fit a finger and the only clearance issue I've had was hitting woop di doos too hard and rubbing a lil on my mud gaurds. Did some pretty tough tracks with all kinda ****ed up angles and did not have any dramas.

Diameter is 830mm and width 260mm.

Hope that helps some people and gives them another option.

One thing id like to add to this thread for anyone thinking of fitting 33's to a ute with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. Due to the verry tall gearing in the new hilux's especially 1st gear you will need to concider re gearing your diffs. This is easy if you plan to fit lockers as you can do it then. Normal everyday driving is ok but you will notice it off the line and will use low range alot off road. Which is all ok. But if you plan to tow a big boat, caravan, camper trailer etc etc you WILL need to do it. After a recent trip for my self with the ute loaded with camping gear, the tinny on the back also loaded with a bit of gear it was really noticable and anything other than level ground resulted in low range to take off. When i hit the beach with the tyres down and soft sand it was harder on the motor again and i saw the egts go up again back to low range. Hope this helps, just another thing to think about.

copy that x2 Drew, ive got 33/10.5/15 km2s on mine, with the lux loaded up around the 3900 kg you got to be thinking all the time of whats going on under your left foot, weve just done 7200km round trip to the top and back ,only smelt the clutch slip once coming out of the pascoe river on the frenchmans track, but even pulling out of parking in some towns espesially cooktown we had to go to low 1 to get out of the gutter

That's a big trip accross the top take a zero off the end and you should be right

Yeh no worries Jack S, so far i think there the best tyres ive had in 20 years,ive never had muddies before due to the fact there noisey bloody things but these things are great,im not into the xtreme stuff like some of the other guys on here, i cant get over how the things hang on in all types of surfaces

im thinking of running the same setup as you 2inch ome lift with 33/10.5/15
gotta love the tax refund just wondering did you have any rubbing issuses when u fist fitted the tyres??
can you still fit the tyres with out the bullbar or do they rub on the front bumper

what lift (minimum) and mods are required (ie trimming or bump stops etc..) recommended to run
33 x 10.5 x 15 on SR5 rims. Vehicle is 08 dual cab with a sahara bar
really hoping to stitch up some deals at the melb 4x4 show!

DLUX is running this setup with I beleive a 2.5 - 2 3/4 inch front lift.

front mudflaps removed and I beleive very minimal if any trimming needed at all...why?

Because of the factory offset keeping the wheel/tyre tucked in, when you turn the wheel the tyre is kept away from the bodymount completely.

Its the tyre width that causes problems when going to a 12" plus width that requires you to get a larger offset wheel to keep the tyre off the factory UCA which in tern results in you needing to trim more due to the larger turning arc.

You'll be fine. great setup, and if I was to build a new hilux from scratch again, it is probably the setup I would have gone. less lift still get the benefit of the 33" tyre.

Hello, Im stoked to have found you all, I need some expert help here , most of my lifted truck experience comes from living in phoenix AZ(ford and chevy) and Im about to build up a TRD 4000 sl lux and wish to run 34" MTZ's and 16 x 8 sidebiters on it with a 3 " susp lift and also 2 " body lift if needed which I presume will.
Are there any gearing \ power issues to be aware of lads, doing this on a 4000 SL ?

How much would aftermarket UCA's be for the 4000SL and whose are considered toughest ?
are there Aussie made UCA's available ?

I have read this entire thread and am now a little confused by what offset combo is going to be best to reach my goal.!?
I would be happy to settle for 33s if im being unrealistic here, but dont want to settle until ive fought for it so...

Im in Vic and this is my 3rd car, which will only be used off road on my 500 acres.

This will make for great photo's if anything so assuming MT tyres and wheels as above, what should i do ?


also I wont be doing any towing other than my dirtbike in the back tray

Cant really get into depth about wheel offsets until we know how wide the 34's are gonna be.....awaiting your reply before continuing.

Thank you, I DID want to achieve that kicked out monster truck look but was'nt sure how wide I would be able to feasibly go...Im happy to go with nearly any tough, quality 34. I think your right though no 34 from MT

if limited I figured an 8" wide rim would be max on this hilux, and figured the max tyre tread width of 11.75 - 12 " ??? just a guess, would that work ?

also can I assume that if you get 34's to clear everything easy then obviously 33's will clear if on the same rim. ? im thinking as a fall back set. Thanks for the pm maxx

I recently fitted 285x75x16 MT BAJA MTZ's on 16x8 infinity rims and seem to be having a rubbing issue.

It seems that they are rubbing on the cross member, i took the car to heismans in st peters were they adjusted the wheels to get more clearance but it still seems to rub when turning and hitting a bump or ditch.

From reading through this forum i havnt seen any issue with the tyres hitting the cross member at all, Can anyone help out as i really dont want to have to downsize to 265's?

the crossmember? are u talking about the rear body mount? or the swaybar? pic would be helpfull mate

what offset are your 16x8's? I think you may have the wrong offset
