yes.. even though Toyota recommends that the fuel filter shouldnt be replaced, and isnt a serviceable part !

No, I didn't undo the battery, I followed your instructions. I thought it may have been because the dash/instrument unit had been unplugged the chime reset itself as a default when it was plugged back in.
Will try the filter tool and see how I go.
