Reverse camera

Reverse camera

Postby Jamie J on Wed, 27 Apr 2016 8:59 +0000

Iv got an sr5 extra cab hilux with a reverse camera and I'm going to put a tray on it. Toyota tell me when the install a tray the relocate this to the tray. Keen to know if anyone has done this and if there are any tricks. Very got a prado 120 as a family rig and when I put in a new head unit I set up a switch to turn on the reverse camera for when not in reverse. I'm very keen to find out if anyone knows if this can be done without upsetting the inboards computer
Thanks in advance.

maybe send an email to a few tray fabricator business's and they'll be happy to help? The guy I was getting a quote through for a tray wanted $240 to refit it the camera.

The camera is easy to take out of the tub. You undo the screws on the back of the tailgate unplug the camera, undo the screws mounting the camera and pull the wiring out. You just need to make up a bracket to mount the camera on the tray. I made mine out of a bit of aluminium angle.
