So I just put an order in for a new 2016 SR D4D A/T Hilux Dualcab in the Dark Charcoal Colour as below

Image

Time for the birth of Punisher 2.0 to begin

For those that dont know, this was Punisher 1.0 below:

Image

Image

The Plan

I have a 4 month wait until the hilux arrives. Once here, the dealer has organised to get a front E-Locker installed from Opposite Lock next door - that's right, this baby will be twin locked from day one

After that, With the much appreciated assistance of Monster Rides, waiting for me at home will be the following for me to install straight away:

Axis Bar

The Axis Bar will be installed for the new Hilux as was on my previous 2007 Model SR.
Image

Wheel Arch Flares

External Rivet Styled Smooth Flares will be fitted in the Body Colour to cover the wheels/tyres that will be going on like the ones pictured below on Matt Smith's Hilux from "Just Auto's".
Image

Method Standards

Method Standard in 16x8 with P0 Offset
Image

305/70x17 Tyres

Still have time to decide which brand but this will be the size. Might even go an All-Terrain as I do quite a few highway kays these days. Got 4 months to decide on what exactly before truck gets here.

Monster Rides Rekon Suspension

This kit has never let me down in the past and provided awesome performance offroad whenever required. therefore will be fitting the Stage 1 Rekon kit. Front coilovers, with progressive rate springs, rear long travel shocks.

Will be raising the front end to about 2.5" and in the rear, will keep her at stock height and only fit a 1" block spacer. Should I require any more rear lift, will fit an extended shackle for an extra inch.
Image

Thats where she'll start off at. Was to'ing and fro'ing for a considerable amount of time whether to regear straight up to 4.3's and run 34 or 35" tyres, but talked myself out of the cutting that would be required to make that work......for now 8-)

To do

Save up for decent rocksliders, and under body protection. Keen on the NCC rear Rocker bar/towbar that protects the rear quarter panels, then she'll be ready to hit the tracks

Image

And of course, another Crawl Box isn't out of the question, thou will be a year or two down the track.....looking at doing something different with it this time too, if it all works out, will be another first for both here and USA, but see how thngs pan out for now.

SR Hilux has a factory rear e-locker......Opposite Lock will install the front aftermarket e-locker.

Congrats mate. Best wheel of choice IMO. Maybe the new BFG KO2 as rubber option?

Thank you. I cant wait for it to arrive too, the waiting game is killing me. They've told me August delivery - so I am trying to pull a few strings to see if I can change that to come a little earlier.

Going to look good Max. Did KSP offer you any other shots of the Axis and what's the cost for the bar itself?

Thats the only photo available from their FB page that I have seen.

The bar is around $2300 mark from memory or just over, cant remember. Im hoping I can get the little flaps below the outer tube wings removed, else I may do them myself - I beleive they were required to meet compliance by not over exposing too much.

Thank you, I have a few hidden gems planned for this one, that others will learn and benefit from. A few custom modification plans, all depends on how much time and motivation I get once she is here. I have no plans to get rid of this one if I can help it, having learnt from my past mistake of selling my last lux. And again, there will not be much emphasis on looks, but on offroad performance.

Derchie wrote:I think KSP are working on a rear bar design at the moment ;)

Thats interesting, would be good to see what they come up with.....planning on making my own towbar brackets for a custom fitted setup now in the rear end and diverting those rear bar planned funds to Axis sliders, which would be more needed.

Changed plans for wheels now towards 16x8 Dynamic Steelies, since I have confirmed with them that they fit the new lux's, and good ol Silverstone MT117 Sports (285/75x16 - which are closer to a 305 in overall size) - which in my experience are the best Bang for Buck tyre out there (if you dont mind it sounding like a Black Hawk helicopter is chasing you on the road with their howl  )
