What Canopy Have You Got?

Hey,
I'm in the market for a canopy. I'm close to choosing the Ascent from ARB because of the central locking feature but the price ($4300 fitted) is putting me off.
Toyota gave me a ridiculous price also ($4500 fitted)
I looked at the Aerolas the other day and loved everything but the size of the side windows (max height 240mm WTF). Also like the Flexisport by Flexiglass.

What have you got??? Rough price?
Pros and Cons.

Thanks guys.

I bought one of these, was about $2700 installed. You can get the same thing but with the gullwing side doors replaced by glass. I really like the large side openings, far more practical than the skinny little side windows that lift up on others.

Not sure what they have exactly for the next Gen Hilux but would be worth an ask.

I just spent a pretty penny on a proper allow tray with a few tool boxes, water tank and custom made dog crate.... Needless to say I'm loving these crazy prices for canopies as it makes me feel better. :D

just throwing it out there, in that price range I have ordered an ELITE canopy from PJ's 4x4 ($4700 fitted). Its very well built, looks great and actually has framed doors rather than a flimsy piece of glass. Definitely worth the money as I can carry big $$ worth of equipment for work so I need security. Full central locking is a bonus and I'm pretty sure its rated for 110kgs on the roof. Heaps of other cool features and definitely a worthy investment if thats what you're chasing.

My local Toyota price is close to 3000 for full gull wing Sr5 canopy ..if i had vents, dust defense kit, wiring harness and internal braced racks it's close to 4000. That doesn't incl central locking which i don't mind as I've heard the central locking can be hit miss working all the time. Toyota warranty keeps things simpler IMO. The arb has all the bells but you certainly pay way more. The aeroklas looks ugly with the small windows an slopes to the rear. Only good thing is they often incl racks albeit they are track mounted directly to the canopy so only take 80kg.

I have a genuine with central locking. I was lucky because the toyota dealer had one in stock from a stuffed up order. It had been sitting there for 8months, I managed to get the canopy, lighting kit, canopy roof racks, central locking and dust seal kit (all fitted) for $4500. From memory they wanted $750 retail for the central locking & about the same for the canopy racks. I just kept asking them for there best price, I did get $1000 off the canopy, just so they could move it. I'm happy with it, they stuffed the install of the seal kit, it only took them 3 days to fix! Novices.

Mine's ARB classic plus canopy, paid about $3500 from memory. It's pretty much classic canopy however the rear window is central lock. As far as i know ARB makes the toyota genuine canopy

I'd tell your ARB to sharpen their pencil a bit on their quote.
Local ARB here always gives a 10% discount on the parts, making the Ascent with both lift up windows about $4080 fitted.

I'm pretty happy with mine now, leaked when first installed but they fixed that straight away.
Glad I went with the double lift up windows, makes accessing things toward the cab much easier.

I've got the ARB Ascent with Central locking and double lift up side windows and I love it! The Central Locking is one of my favourite things on my lux.

Although pricey I'd highly recommend it. :D

I priced all around darwin and found the ARB ascent canopy to be by far the best value for money. The flexisport, toyota, aeroklas and caddy canopies all ended up at least 300 more and i would of got less. Not to mention before i actually went into the shops i called up to get a rough price and Arb were the only ones who knew their price and didnt greatly under quote me. Overall ARB were really good and looking forward to getting my ascent.

They are an awesome canopy! No problems to report yet on any model, only broken rear windows/doors from ricochets off vans and trailers. By the way don't break one of these as they are expensive!

How well does the rubber seal on the tailgate? Sometimes thats just how they sit, yours doesn't look too bad.

The new Toyota canopies are going to have central locking on them, mine hasn't but I can live with that now I have installed central locking on the tailgate.

Have a look at the CarryBoy range. We have one, lift up sides, single slam action handles, side and rear, reinforced roof for loading, with tie rails, colour coded, interior led light, lined, tinted windows, smooth finish, rain/water proof, even when cleaning with a pressure cleaner, inbuilt circuit for fridge from same wiring as light,(10amp), reasonably dust proof even where joining the tailgate, more so than the tailgate itself. Only 4 anchors, but believe could have had 6 on request.

It's great, love it, compared to another 'Lux we have with an ARB. Came with the vehicle, memory gets me in the $3200 range fitted a few years ago. Had an accident with one of the side windows, had a replacement in 4-5 days, (interstate), albeit $420 inc freight, so $120 out of insurance after $300 excess. So easy to fit compared to sliders on the ARB.
