Take it back to the service department and show them, also ring Toyota Customer Experience and make a complaint.

Whom ever did the job at your dealers has stuffed up big time. It happens when you let monkeys lose with a buffer.

I did complain and went back there. The salesman took me out to the yard and showed me them all. They all had swell marks but the white and silver ones covered it well

When you buy the car they put some shiny stuff like meguires that makes it look good for a few weeks till it fades off. Not Happy

Its black. Honestly the worst colour for swells or any dark colour really. Unless your going to not get it wet and polish it every month they will always be there. Probably someone with no idea did the pre clean and polish and thats why it looks like that from day one also.

Polish hides the swirls till it wears off unless someone with no idea uses a buffer and puts them there.

hmmm...
after some months of serious usage that swirls should be no problems any more

:D

But I am aware of the aesthetic complaints about the paint quality. At least we all have paid hard earned money for our rigs.

I have the crystal white and apart from a couple of micro pieces of dust or other contaminants I'd say it's spot on.

Same here, I have white too and there is the odd dust defect and i also have 2 small paint blisters/craters from a small solvent bubble however we are talking like 1mm big so nothing to loose sleep over.
Only other defect is 2 swirl mark patches on the bonnet which would have been the dealer.

I have silver and it seems pretty good, about on par with most new cars these days. One thing I've noticed is that the panels are very soft and easily dented, ie: don't lean on them !!

And that's one problem with cheaper polishes, they contain little polish, some fillers and cleaners so as you said, after a few weeks and a couple of washes, it all fades away.

SWIRL marks come from using clothes or pads that contain particles of dirt. (You can always tell who washes their car with a broom).

(If you want to keep paint in good nick use the two bucket process, microfiber only, and Grit Guards).

My next step, as I suggested, would be some pics and a call to Toyota Customer Care. The vehicles don't come from the factory with swirl marks in the paint otherwise we'd all be complain, they come from your dealer.

Don't let them bully you or pull the wool over your eyes. You have every right to expect the paint work to be close to perfect on delivery and some of that is your dealers responsibility.

Your dealer doesn't want to fork out the dollars to correct the paint especially a yard full of them.

Paint defects

Hi all,

My Hilux's bonnet has a paint defect smack-bang in the centre. I discovered it when hand-washing the car last week (I normally just chuck it through an auto car wash). Ignore the larger black area, that was me just rubbing the **** out of that area with a sponge, that's just a super-shiny bit from all the buffing - I was assuming originally the defect was birdsh*t.

It appears to be the clear coat coming off & the exposed black paint has a bit of surface etching in it. I've had birds bomb the car & even had tree sap once - but none of these had created any defects like above. It's not a stone chip or any other kind of physical damage.

This got denied through warranty (worth a try, & not the point of this post to focus on the warranty denial) but I thought I'd just share this with you all - check your panels regularly! I'll have to get on top of this soon, I guess I'll take it to a local auto-repair shop & see if they can touch it up. I can live with the defect appearance-wise but I don't want it to propagate.

Cheers

Dave

Not sure if it's related, but I've noticed with my 2016 (white) it has all little orange dots that look a bit like rust, seems like something has gotten onto the paint, it's on my bonnet, the top edge of both doors etc. I thought maybe I have parked somewhere for this to happen, but a friend's brand new hilux aswell has the same orange defects on it.
Makes you question the quality of the newer hilux's paint

I've got the same spots on mine. I also thought they may of been from a tree. Look like rust spots as you say.

I have the same "rust" spots, they look like rust but go away with a rub. 4 months old Hilux, on the salty roads of Sweden. I though it was iron-chips from drilling the holes for the roof rack or snorkel.

My son’s a car detailer and he put me on to clay bar for rust spot. I got one from super cheap but he reckons joybond is the best. It will remove your polish too so will want a good polish afterwards.
