Shark Fin Antenna/GPS

Howdy All,

Given the crappy Steel Antenna TOJO fits to its Luxs, and the Poor AM reception i decided to source and find a suitable Shark Fin antenna, that does AM/FM and GPS, so 2 hours later after waiting a week for it to arrive, ive installed a Volkswagen GPS/ ANtenna

The Antenna has 15Db gain for AM and 12 for FM Radio, finally no more crackles or noise just crisp sound the GPS is also perfect less than 30 seconds to find my position,

So another thing off my list

Cheers

Daz

x2, my std. ariel is always hitting the garage door, and if I put it low enough to clear the door, the reception is crap.

HI Guys,

I will try and take a pic tonite if not 2mrw and upload, VW USA, i paid 236 Shipped , i wasnt paying the 500 odd here for an arieal that i was sceptical off from the start, i know you can get them on Ebay but ive heard really mixed reports, so i had to make sure before i went drilling a hole in the roof,

FYI ive mounted it right at the rear before the curve starts about 75mm forward, the very good quality ABS plastic and the seal was brilliant, i put some sika flex in the hole just incase,

Took off to Crystal Car wash this arvo and no leaks so all ok

So finally that crap coat hanger is pushed all the way in and will never see daylight again.

Cheers

Daz

I dunno why all manufacturers dont do this its simple for them at the factory, but im very pleased with the results

http://www.getvwparts.com/

You need to find the Shorter one not the longer one, the Passat wagon has a much longer one, i think mines a Jedda i will try and find the box , but it may have gone out in last nights recycling

Hi Jogal,

ive got VMS Sat Nav, and yes it does, you would have to be very precise with the connections mate, i cant comment on mine, i was just lucky the VMS has a Eurpoean type connector, the areial etc came with 5M + of cabling , thats why i got the wagon version of the antenna, so no joins

Come on Jamie, you gotta work smart. Just tune out slightly all of your radio station presets and tell her the ariel must be stuffed and needs replacing  ;)

I am not just a pretty face

Nice work Daz... pretty trick.

I've been meaning to look at getting one of these on my truck for a while.

I might look into purchasing a number of them through MR if anyone else is seriously interested.
A couple of my clients have recently mentioned this type of modification, and we would all like better AM reception, can't live without my classic music and hearing from Martha from Moree on talk back!

Daz, did you look into any other models or brands?
I'm sure you did plenty of R&D so you'll know all the options!

If anyone is interested drop me a PM or email and I'll see what I can organise.

Cheers
Matt
