Sounds like you know how to use a clutch.
I might be wrong.

This is an old thread and i felt sorry for it left laying on the cold shed floor all alone so giving it some CPR here.

I have put 3 clutches in my 2008 and currently on 320,000 km , the first two were standard aftermarkets as carried by Bursons or equivalent.

This time i upgraded the 260 mm flywheel and clutch to a 275 Exedy Safari Tuff.

I carry a bit of weight in the back and tow a 1200 kg trailer sometimes but the standard ones shouldn't die so quick !

One thing i noticed when pulling out the last clutch was when i loosened off the pressure plate bolts is there was less than 1 mm of preload in the spring pack , the clutch plate was 7.9 mm thick so it had not worn down that much , yet it was slipping atrociously after a third party had the vehicle for a week :o   .

By comparison the new Exedy clutch has 5 mm preload gap when the bolts are finger tight.

Exedy claim 25 % more torque capacity from the Safari clutch and hopefully the increased plate area in the 275 mm will be another 20 % plus.

*** One suggestion i have is if guys get their flywheel machined , the correct depth from shoulder to face is 4.2 mm and the shoulder should be machined down the same amount as the face***

If i had the luxury of time to play around with one , i would experiment by machining the shoulder down more so the shoulder to face depth was only 3.2 mm for example giving more spring preload , this however would need testing and evaluating by someone who has the time and the hoist to test this theory out.

I have change mine at 260k, brand new AISIN clutch kit, and after that,i got this rattleing noise on idlle, soon as push the clutch down its stops. Some say its the pilot bearing, but i wouldnt hassle with the gearbox again, without beeing sure, so any advice its much apreciated.
