Hello all!
I drive a 2016 2.4L Diesel, 6sp manual, in Israel. 32' tires, BP-51 shocks and lift, Lokka in the front and OEM locker rear.
The gearing is 3.58:1 (43:12) which is way too long. I do not use 6th speed on highway at all.
I'd like to re-gear to 4.88 or even 5.29:1. With 33' tires I would cruise in 6th gear with almost exactly same rev's as 5th in my previous 2008 Hilux, and gain a huge increase in crawl ratio.
Now problem is this: not a lot of experience re-gearing Toyota differentials in Israel, especially the newer 8.75' rear axle and the 8' clamshell. People just don't regear so much around here and when they do it's often crappy work.
I was thinking of ordering a set of built 3rd member and front clamshell. I contacted East Coast Gear Supply in the US about ordering a set of Tacoma diff's. They couldn't tell me for sure if there are any differences and they would bolt on.
so questions are:
1. Would 2016+ Tacoma 3rd member and front clamshell ordered from US bolt on a 2016+ Hilux?
2. Is there an equivalent shop in Australia (or RSA, or Europe) that can build and ship Hilux Diffs same as shops in the US?
I would not be sending my diff's to work, those I would resell localy after replacing them.
Thanks!
