Hi all. Has anyone got a scintec snorkel if so are they any good if not which snorkel should I go for

Totally agree, you cant turn the other head around at all and the safari one, from what i can see, has a better way of getting rid water that gets directed thru the intake stream. I cant see any slots in the other head designs that let water out of the top and sides??? Plus they look tougher than the flowing- pillar huging one, looks like it means business i rekon

The Airtec one from TJM has the slots in the head as well, I'd go with either it or the Safari one, depending on which style you prefer. As Hellbound said, you can turn the head on the Safari one 180 if you're driving through heavy rain or dust, plus with the well-known brands you KNOW they are made with UV stabilized plastic, so it won't start crumbling and falling apart on you in 5 years time. My Airtec one was $446 from TJM if I remember and took a few hours to fit at home, if you need tips, we're all willing to help mate!

Go the Airtec.

Doesn't stick up as much as the Safari, so less snagging branches. Works well rain, hail or shine.

Ive never ever caught a safari snorkel head on anything in all of utes that have ive had them installed on. Airtec cant be turned backwards, which you will need to do at some point in time. Plus the ARB goes together perfectly with no need for silicone work around the hoses, some do use silicone around it tho so its your call but i didnt as the fit so perfectly together....

Do they give any inproved performance?

X3 safari for sure, but make sure what ever you buy to plug the holes under you air (the filter box) intake as well.

unless your got a TIG welder, then 3" mandrel bent S/S would be my choice

How do iron man snorkels rate agaisnt safari

no improved performance, just keeps air cleaner before going into filter. Safari are okay, but noisy as hell when doing 100k/h and its windy, as wind hits head at differents angles/points.

Sorry mate but a properly installed safari wont make any noise at any rpm / kmh. If you had an ironman snorkel on the bench along with the fittings and a safari right next to it with all its fittings, theres no doubt you would see which is the better unit - like any other ARB its well engineered and goes together beautifully - whether you install correctly or they stuff up the install is another thing all together...

x2 just has mine put on can't hear any noise from it at all.

Well just came through some decent rain with the Safari Head turned forward. Looks like I took on a bit of rain . It didn't make it past my filter though which is good, but the outside of the filter did get damp. Looks like I'll just be riding with the head turned backwards from now on. (Although it doesn't look as cool)

Anyone else had an issue like this?

I bought my Safari snorkel from ARB Wollongong for $370 a couple of months ago, can't fault it.

Installed it myself which was easy and fun (cutting through your guard with a 108mm hole saw). The hardest bit was trying to get the inner guard off! Stupid plastic clips.

Anyway at that price it's not much dearer to have piece of mind of a proven product, and it goes together perfectly.
