Too SideStep or Not ?

Postby Scratchblades on Tue, 20 Aug 2013 7:14 +0000

Guys,

Considering i now have a rear color coded Step bar, do i sidestep or not ? , im leaning towards the ARB color coded to match

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers

Depends what yo want to use your lux for if you intend on taking it offoad then side steps are a must as far as arb ones go they are pretty crap there are much better around for similar or less coin !

x2

They have paid for them selves in pannel damage prevention.

Mate of mine has arb steps, not much better than the ally steps and they are bent all out of shape.

Suggestions ?? I've been wondering the same thing at the moment scratchblades. I need something that's filled in so kiddies don't jam feet in and want ADR approved for insurance purposes.

To get them colour coded just take them to a panel shop.

Buddy did mine, I love em, they are good for the kids, strong and much cheaper than ARB, TJM or Opposite Lock.

Those look nice.

To Scratchblades : Seeing as your ute is gun grey and rear bar is gun grey, deff get colour coded.

Or you could repaint the rear bar satin black so you can scratch them up. Glad i didnt get colour coded rear.

i was in the same boat and couldnt decide.
I ended up finaly making my mind up with colour coded front bar, with all the rest going satin black.
not sure if it will work . The custom sliders and brush bars will be poweder coated satin when finished to match the ARB rear step. my car is black so i might get away with it.

if you going stin on the steps i reckon you should go satin all the way round. Just my thoughts. Good luck :)

So the ARB ones just won't hold up at all? How big of a hit are you talking about ScotsMan? Im not too worried about the airbag compliance now, but i have been told by the insurance mob that it has to be ADR approved to be insured. They weren't worried about the airbag compliance, as long as the vehicle is roadworthy with the sliders/steps. Anyone with the ARB ones have any positive feedback? I've seen a few blokes running them, and all i need is the occasional bump off road and no massive sliding as such (maybe a couple of times in their life - not every time i go wheeling)

Happy to look at Buds etc, not entirely happy with the price of ARB for what they are.

ARB is a side step not a rock slider.

If slide off an embankment they would most likely hold up. If you come off a ledge or rock and hit them they would most likely bend.

For the price of the ARB ones they really don't have a purpose as buds would act as a step but also protect you better.

Just my 2c

Like Mick says they are just a fancy step, I dropped into a rut on the front and the Arb side step took out my rear sill not worth the risk in my opinion especially for what they cost !

Sounds good! Love the look of a fully kitted car by one brand. Especially ARB! It's like driving around in a car with money glued on the sides! ;)
