2005 air con not very cold.

2005 air con not very cold.

Postby Mitch_n on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 5:57 +0000

Hey,

I've done a bit of a search already but couldn't find much info.

I just picked up a 11/05 sr dual cab. And the air con isn't very cold. Is there any easy fix for it or known issues before I take it to an aircon place and they charge me and arm and a leg??

Thanks, Mitch.

Compressor clutch is stuffed or needs regassing.

How is the engine coolant temp? If it gets too hot the a/c switches off.

Check to make sure the compressor is engaged at operating temp.

The air con is working. It's cold but nowhere near as cold as my gu patrol I just got rid of.

Might need regassing by the sounds of it.

Thanks

Check your in cab filter behind glove box. A clean might improve it a bit.

Yeh pulled that out. Pulled the fan off from the bottom. No filter in there that I could see

Can the thermostat be adjusted? replaced?

My 07 SR5 has never been quite cool enough compared to other cars owned

My 2013 SR5 a/c is nowhere near as cold as my 98 GU Patrol, I just thought it was normal for the Hilux.
