merging into digoptions thread.

no you dont need to modify any of the plugs. if you use the toyota harness it should all work fine.

Hi tccestimator,
Are you referring to my new model (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... RK:MESE:IT) or the TP09X1?

I hope that I can help out here... I had a HEMA and got cranky with it as it kept locking up between on-road and offroad programs (turns out that it doesnt like to share the GPS port)... So I sent my second one back after it failed and got my money back.

I then bought a ruggedised PC (ex-Canadian KMart failure), which I then loade dup with OziCE and a Bluetooth GPS. It is for sale on Ebay right f*n now (RFN).

I replaced the ruggedised CE PC as I purchased a in-dash unit similar to what is in this discussion... See my shed for pics. It is a 600MHz, 1Gb RAM, 2xexternal USB inputs and a front USB Input. It read upto 32Gb Micro SD, which is great because I have heaps of Ozi Maps. Also (and maybe the best bit) is that I can play my Iphone music over the Bluetooth, and the kids can watch Iphone (or Ipad, if I had one) movies over the speakers whilst they share the screen. I bought this with DVBT and Rear Camera for a bargain and then sold my original SR5 Bluetooth unit for over $300 on Ebay.

Problem is that Ozi wouldnt work to begin with... but, have recently bought the latest version of CE and it works. Giddyup! However, the port still wont share the GPS between Ozi and the road based GPS Program.
I couldnt remember my Ozi username and serial number, but I emailed and he gave it to me... Great service.

Im on my second Dig_options unit now. first one fail with GPS just not working randomly. Now I have another problem. I have the screen blacking out of and on. It only seems to happen when the indicator is on and when the brakes are applied. It is intermittent though and only happens 50% of the time. I have reversing camera installed too.

The other day I remover the unit thinking that it was some kind of Earth fault. I removed scotch locks and solderered every join. checked all plugs and re-fitted. Still no joy! Only thing I haven't got around to looking at is the rear wiring of the reversing camera and brake light pick up.

Any body electrically minded got any ideas? I'd hat to have to hassle Matt again for another replacement unit. I have everything working perfectly other than this annoyance....
Cheers

Brake wire should just go to earth. Book says to handbrake so you have restricted use when hand brake is off.

Blank screen could be rev camera screen coming on but no power to camera.

Hi mrpacthman, Could you please clarify if you are you referring to a dig_options system in your post re refund? I have never experienced any complaints relating to our systems not sharing GPS ports. Also, I don't supply Ozi username and serial number. If you are having any dramas with our units please let me know so we can resolve.

Matt

Hi Muzz, please email me or PM and I can send you some illustrations. The yellow needs to go into AUX AVIN, and the red and white need to go into AUXLIN and RIN. Then you simply press AUX, not TV. Is your DVB getting power?

Hi Grunter,
Hassle away mate. That's what I'm here for. This problem is most common with Nissan's (particularly X-Trail). You will find that if you isolate from the head unit the Brown 'Car Back' wire this problem will disappear. This wire should be wired directly to the positive of your reverse light. From the camera it's important to wire the red to positive of reverse light also and the black to negative of the reverse light, please don't just earth. Any probs let me know.
Cheers,
Matt

Dear all, regarding some people experiencing the screen blanking when you apply brakes, or indicators etc, my installer said this is common and it's not a unit fault, it's actually a fault of the original vehicle wiring. But he did say that between the camera remote wire and the positive of reverse you should add a resistor. Also from the camera there is a black and red, it's best to apparently wire the black to the body of the car (and of course the red to positive of the reverse.

OK Matt,

Thanks for the reply. A little more detail is necessary however.....

There are thousands of sizes for a resistor. I followed the supplied instructions exactly when I fitted the reversing camera. I never had the screen blanking problem with the original unit though. Can you please find out the exact size of the resistor required? It will be in Ohms. I actually thought this might be some kind of circuit feedback between the brake and indicator circuits in the vehicle but I am no expert nor an Auto elecy...

Cheers for the good service on replacing my faulty original unit. This one is working great besides the annoying screen blanking.....

EDIT
They are actually rectifier diodes which are available at local electronics stores. The ones my installer is using are marked "IN4004 MIC".

Hi, just thought I'd elaborate. A common inline diode such as Part#: 1N4001 - 1N4007 will be fine. My installer gave me the diode he uses which has the number IN4004 then MIC under that. This problem is not very common for me but as far as the installer has advised, it's a problem with the vehicle, not the unit. What I'm told happens which you guys will probably know more about than me is there may be very low voltage that comes from the brake light or indicator and travels up the reverse wire which triggers the unit into camera mode.

You can easily get an inexpensive diode from Jaycar or any similar outlet which sells specialised electrical components. It may well be worth getting a couple extra in case you overheat one in the soldering process.

I hope this helps.

Matt

I'd be very hesitant to put the blame on Toyota, considering the 1st Dig_options unit that I had installed never had a problem with the screen blanking. I changed out the unit due to the GPS failure without a change to any wiring and now I have a problem. Seems to me that there is very likely to be inconsistencies with the Chinese componants and the switching input sensativity rather that the Totota wiring.

On the bright side the GPS and everything else on the replacement unit is now fine. I'll add the diode and report back. Hopefully the 0.6v breakdown voltage of the diode will be enough to sort the problem out.
Cheers

I'm having problems with the touch screen calibration lately.

At the moment I need to touch the screen about 10mm above and 3mm to the left of the button I want to press on the touch screen. I read the manual though do not understand how to calibrate the screen correctly. When I open the calibration setting I get a screen saying OK or cancel. And then sometimes I get cross hairs to touch which remain on the screen indefinately which simply move around to new positions when touched.

Is anybody able to assist with this problem as it's currently almost impossible to use the GPS function due to this. :(

Thanks,
Hendo

Ok,
I’m on my 2nd TP09X1 unit now (first ones blue tooth crapped out), and I’m having yet more issues.

1. I’ve had this unit installed since September last year and have been noticing the touch screens sensitivity is reducing. Takes up to 10 attempts to register a command sometimes. I have never used any cleaning products on the screen, I’ve only every wiped it over with a soft microfiber cloth. Its got nothing to do with screen calibration as I have checked this already.

2. Finally had the opportunity to install the reverse camera yesterday and I’m about ready to pull my hair out. I have double and triple checked my entire wiring front to back and everything is 100% correct as per install requirements (I’m very anal, all joints are properly soldered and shrink wrapped). But, when I select reverse the image comes up Mirror Image!!! The writing is in the top right corner reads “MAC NI” and everything on the image being displayed is back to front (Vehicle right is being displayed on image left and vise versa)

3. To top it off I am also having the same issue as Grunter. If I touch the breaks or indicator, the screen is blanking out and trying to show the reverse Cam!!!!! If it was a vehicle issue wouldn’t all Hilux’s be doing this?

4. Anyone got any ideas on how we can improve the IPod control to show the menus? It’s so dangerous driving along and trying to operate the iPod from the iPod itself.

Any ideas (this reverse cam has me stumped)?
