Hey guys,
My clutches have shuddered from 26,000kms onwards
throwout bearing went at 26,000kms replaced under warranty
throwout bearing went again at 44,000kms had them put exedy after market HD clutch in and had massive vibrations in it at low revs, shudder was the same, clutch was accused of being dodgy and sent of to be tested by exedy, came back that it was working fine, toyota refused to install exedy one back in as they said they were bad for the car and installed new genuine clutch which worked ok but still with shudder on take off
Clutch started slipping at 60,000kms still with shudder Springwood toyota said it was ok and should put up with it, complained to head office and was asked to take it to new dealership-Southside Woolongabba they stated it needed a new clutch. New clutch was put in and returned to me with them asking to have it back next week as the shudder was worse than the old one getting replaced and nearly made the car undriveable. Turns out the Exedy HD clutch wasn't faulty at all as it had the same problems as the genuine toyota when 1st put in, just another dodgy toyota. After 2 weeks shudder was quite bad and took it back in to southside for the 3rd time, they installed new flywheel and updated clutch. It is kind of better than the std ones but still has shudder, massive shudder in reverse up hills and when in a traffic jam crawling forward.
Toyota have now come back to me and stated that it is bad fuel and dirty injectors and the Prado rims causing this and that the clutch is working fine. They have not been able to explain to me why the shudder is only there when the clutch is being used, when the clutch is out and the car is moving forward under idle there is no shudder, when the clutch is out reversing up a hill there is no shudder.
I have had two independent mechanics look at it and both of them have stated that it is the clutch and nothing to do with fuel/injectors/rims, as it is onto it's 5th clutch and is only at 64,000kms I'm starting to think it may be something else causing the shudder.
Does anyone have any ideas about this shudder?
