SR REAR SPEAKERS

Picked up a TD SR Dual Cab today. Have only driven it home form the dealer and was a bit dissapointed to find that the stereo only has 2 speakers even though there is provision in the rear doors.
Anyone fitted speakers to the rear doors and what did you use.
Previous vehicle was a TD 100 series, so am a bit dissapointed with the quality of the layout and materials used in the dash etc, and also the vinyl used on the floors is horrible, but a set of floormats will fix that, but it does seem to go ok.
Dont think I am going to like the seats very much either, has anyone fitted aftermarket seats. I know ARB do some, but dont know if they would fit as they are quite wide.
Any info appreciated.

Standard 6" speakers can fit into the rear enclosures and I believe the wiring is already in place to connect them.

I purchased some aftermarket and had them fitted to save time.

I found the seats uncomfortable after a while but I seem to have adapted. I would like to fit recaros.... one day
I have nothing good to say down here so I wont say anything at all

Glad to hear that someone else finds the factory seating uncomfortable! I find that after an hour in the seat I start to fidget and squirm to get comfortable and 'she who must be obeyed' gave me a right bollocking about how uncomfortable the seats were and how she felt that the interior fitout could have been much nicer! (she was especially pissed when trying to pull out the passenger side drink holder she found that it was only a dummy- due to the airbag) And we have the SR5! Anyway I would love to hear if anyone has replaced the seats and if so what with, any problems and associated cost.
Cheers

I fitted some decent (spelt expensive ) sheepskin covers on my seats... drove to Brisbane and back to darwin over X mas... felt much better on my backside... and it also stopped that noise comming from the passenger side of the car.... She is much happier now....

i have an SR and the passenger side Drink holder is real?
is there a diffrence between SR/SR5 with that or maybee just change between the years.

After a 10hr Drive (whith only about 1 hr out of the seat), i found it fairly comfortable, but nothing spectacular (i have teh seat pulled up pretty high truck like rather then layed back).

I somehow thought the SR had 4 speakers aswell, but ill be picking up some standard 6" speakers for the rear.
Had the Sun on the radio yesterday which lit up all the built in displays on the LCD.
showed BT (blue tooth?)
a Signal strength meter
few other things, would of liked BT =}

Jcarter, Be careful when you fit the rear speakers.. if they are too deep the window will hit the rear of the speaker in the lowered position. To overcome this you could make a spacer up from MDF and sit the speaker out a bit... may need to be about 25 - 30 mm.. Have just pulled mine out to look at replacing them with Alpine units... will be tricky.. Will do up an article and post on this site when finished..... BTW, the new (POST AUG 06) Hiluxes have the pass cup holder as standard....Cheers TOMUCH

I have found that Alpine actualy have a speaker system that comes with a bracket designed to fit Toyota....They are in their higher end line... The speakers are the DDLinear 6 1/2 Coaxial Speaker set and component Speaker set... Product numbers are
DLX - F177 @ $1299 yeah right
DLC - 177R @ $399 better
and DLS - 175R $299 reasonable.
I think you would need to ask for the correct vehicle fittment when you order... ask your local Alpine dealer... TOMUCH

My Toyota dealer fitted factory speakers and the sound quality is fine.

I had the seats and the center console bin top done in leather by Blackmans in Sydney and had the bases re padded with stuff called memory foam. Seats are very comfortable for me and the wife now and I am a fair lump of lard (120kg). They didn't charge any extra for the repad either. The leather is top quality and makes the interior a bit less bland.
